The Philadelphia 76ers today announced a first-of-its kind agreement for a multi-year partnership with prediction market company Kalshi.
The 76ers are the first NBA franchise to announce an official prediction market partner, just days after the NBA announced its own partnership with both Kalshi and Polymarket, naming the companies as preferred prediction market exchanges of the league.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reported the news earlier today.
76ers First to Partner With Prediction Market Company
The 76ers are the first NBA franchise to partner with a prediction market company. As part of the deal, as reported by the Inquirer, Kalshi will fund postgame SEPTA rides for 76ers fans attending tonight’s matchup against the Knicks.
Additionally, the partnership includes “fan engagement” elements for 76ers fans and Kalshi users, including the chance to win free merchandise and concessions, through opportunities on the 76ers mobile app.
News broke earlier this fall that 76ers forward LeBron James agreed to a deal with a prediction market company of his own. Front Office Sports announced James reached a partnership agreement with Polymarket worth $15 million a year with the prediction market platform.
James is playing on a two-year deal with the 76ers for a total of $7.9 million.
NBA Partners with Kalshi, Polymarket
The NBA earlier this week announced new partnerships with Kalshi and Polymarket, naming the companies as preferred prediction market exchanges of the league.
The agreements with Kalshi and Polymarket will run for multiple years, according to several reports.
The NBA’s partnership with Kalshi and Polymarket is the first of its kind between the league and prediction market companies. The league is now partnered directly with the two largest prediction market companies in the world during a time when the regulatory and legal battlefields are heating up.
Kalshi confirmed the agreement in a press release, noting the new deal will bring official NBA data to Kalshi’s basketball sports event contracts and establish direct collaboration with the league on market integrity, consumer protections, and athlete safety.
“We’re excited to see the NBA engage directly in shaping this future. Safe, responsible innovation requires leagues, exchanges, and regulators to work together. With this partnership, we’re putting that collaboration into practice: official data, stronger integrity protections, and an open marketplace where fans set the prices,” A Kalshi spokesperson noted in a press release.
