When Will Sports Betting Launch in Connecticut?

After three years of back and forth between the state, tribal casinos, and other stakeholders, Connecticut lawmakers appear ready to move forward with a package of bills that would see online sports betting come to fruition in 2021.

Sports fans in the Constitution State should know it’s a question of “when” not “if” legal sports betting will arrive in Connecticut.

State officials have not made any guarantees as the legislative process is ongoing. However, lawmakers and the Connecticut Lottery Corporation are pushing towards an accelerated launch in time for the 2021 NFL season.

In the meantime, sports bettors in Connecticut don’t have to travel too far to place a bet. No matter where you live in Connecticut, you’re already a stone’s throw away from several states with legal sports betting. It’s just a two-hour drive from New Haven to Jersey City, NJ, or from Hartford to Lincoln, RI, for example.

Connecticut Sports Betting App: Mobile Betting Likely On the Way

Mobile sports betting apps provide fans the flexibility and convenience of placing a wager from anywhere at any time.

Looking at the highlights of Governor Ned Lamont’s recent agreement with Connecticut’s tribal nations and lawmakers’ desire to capture revenue, you can make a reasonable bet that Connecticut will allow mobile sports betting.

Assuming the bills currently making their way through legislature pass, it appears Connecticut will have three online operating licenses available – one for each of the states two federally recognized tribes, and one for the Connecticut Lottery, which seeks a partner.

Here are some of the top sports betting apps we expect to see in Connecticut’s starting lineup:

Sportsbook Learn More
DraftKings Read Review
FanDuel Read Review

It’s worth noting that DraftKings has already teamed up with a tribal casino. Their existing partnership with the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe should ensure a quick launch once legislation passes.

We’ll update the list above as more information becomes available.
