The two were supposed to lock horns in the summer, but Fulton testing positive for COVID-19 postponed the fight.

When Fulton dropped out, Leo bested replacement adversary Tramaine Williams via unanimous decision on August 1st to capture the vacant championship.

Angelo Leo Aims for First Title Defense

Angelo Leo is a protege of Floyd Mayweather as he ended 2020 on the high of becoming a world champion.

Leo aims to make a successful first title defense this weekend and begin to carve out his own legendary legacy.

It’s generally a bit of a curious spot for an unbeaten defending champion to be slated as the betting underdog.

But it seems like Angelo Leo is letting that oddsmaker perceptions galvanize his efforts in the lead up to this Fulton fight.

Stephen Fulton’s Quest for WBO Gold

Fulton was actually a more sizeable favorite against Leo when the bout was initially scheduled and before his coronavirus ordeal.

It has been just a couple of days shy of a year since Fulton last competed. He bested Arnold Khegai on January 25th, 2020 via unanimous decision.

These 122 pounders are both undefeated and seem to have strong mutual respect leading into this contest.

Leo seems to recognize Fulton’s strong jab and savvy gauging of distance, while Fulton watched Leo’s title-winning effort during quarantine and congratulated the newly minted titlist.

Considering the sub-fifty percent stoppage rate of both men, I think there’s good value in a prop bet on this one going the distance.

Ultimately I think that the prop bet on Stephen Fulton by decision or technical decision (+120) presents great value for when Leo vs Fulton goes down.

Pick: Stephen Fulton (-160)

Rolando Romero vs Justin Pauldo

The WBA interim lightweight world title is up for grabs when Romero vs Pauldo takes place. Rolando Romero and Justin Pauldo find themselves in the roles of champion and challenger, respectively.

Romero is unbeaten, has 10 KOs across 12 career wins, and is one of the more flashy trash talkers nowadays. However, he’s coming off of a highly controversial victory in his last outing, so the microscope will really be on him for this one.

Pauldo’s fifty percent stoppage rate isn’t quite as noteworthy as Romero’s. That being said, Pauldo does have a slight experience edge and is top quality with his shot selection.

Overall though, I think there’s good value in pursuing a KO or TKO prop bet for Romero. I see him securing the win inside the distance and maintaining his hold on the gold.

Pick: Rolando Romero (-470)
