BFC 50
Minsk, Belarus is the centre for BFC 50 taking place this afternoon.
  • BFC 50 goes down Friday, April 17th at 2:00 pm EST
  • Which kickboxers are the best bets to emerge victorious come Friday?
  • Check out the fight odds, the bout breakdowns, and my predictions below!

BFC 50 emanates from Prime Hall in Minsk, Belarus. The event is a hybrid card with an even amount of kickboxing bouts and MMA fights. Lines are out for some of the higher stakes kickboxing bouts that bolster this event. The live event sporting world at large ceased to be and the athletic landscape going forward looks largely barren.

Aside from possible talks of events running in Florida soon or UFC’s”Fight Island”, little is concretely known about the future of returning to combat sports normalcy. Enter BFC 50 to satisfy society’s need for bloodlust betting.

BFC 50 Odds

Fighter Odds
German Vandenmin -150
Dmitriy Zhaurid +110
Fighter Odds
Yury Zhukovsky -180
Artur Makovsky +130

Odds taken Apr.16

Sports have ground to a halt domestically but some international events have been valiantly (foolishly?) plowing forward. The 148lb co-main kickboxing feature should deliver high octane action in spades. Zhukovsky has had a bit of a rough go of it having lost his last three documented kickboxing bouts (via Tapology). He has competed on the BARS circuit and favors a style that is oriented to Muay Thai more so than European style kickboxing. Though he has the clear experience edge in terms of documented experience, Zhukovsky has been inactive for quite a long time. He last competed almost 12 years ago.

Conversely, there’s seems to be no semblance of a documented kickboxing record for Makovsky. The element of surprise could be in his favor here or he could be woefully outmatched against a more seasoned fighter. I also think the nature of competing during a barren social landscape will galvanize Makovsky’s effort. The desire to impress during a time where far more international eyes are on the show is something that I think would have to bolster the warrior spirit that is already present on fight night. I ultimately think Makovsky is a solid underdog bet here.

Pick: Artur Makovsky (+130)

Belarusian Fight Championship 50

Exactly like in the aforementioned kickboxing co-main, the two top of the marquee kickboxers will both have home-field advantage for this one. The crowd in Minsk will not have to pick a side and will be elated regardless as a Belarusian compatriot will undoubtedly win.

Also, this bout is slated to be contested a 205 lbs. This is a great weight division in as far as it marries nimble, captivating athleticism with devastating KO power. This bout has the potential to really deliver and electricity combat sports fans who are starving for some new shows to watch.

Though neither has a disclosed reach length, the height of Vandenmin is notable. Generally, the taller guy has the longer reach and he has the two-inch edge in terms of height. The reach mystery is actually a bit of a microcosm for this bout here. Both pugilists seem to have little to no information available on either of them.

The collective gaze of the world will be on this event more than would be the case in a normative international climate. I feel like the person who emphatically takes this will really make that impression and etch their name into the consciousness of the combat sports world as a whole.

Vandenmin vs Zhaurid Tale of the Tape

Vandenmin
VS
Zhaurid
N/A Record N/A
N/A Knockouts N/A
6’4 Height 6’2
N/A Reach N/A
N/A Significant Wins N/A
N/A Stance N/A

The parity in this fight and the 205lb ranks as a whole leads me to lean towards the underdog. There is enough of a chance that the betting upset happens whereby I think it’s an enticing proposition. Go with Zhaurid over Vandenmin at BFC 50.

Pick: Dmitriy Zhaurid (+110)
