- Taylor vs Linardatou goes Saturday, November 2nd at 6:30 pm EST
- Can Taylor succeed in her campaign to become a two-weight champion?
- Can Linardatou silence the pundits and retain her championship?
Taylor vs Linardatou is a title bout that has history-making connotations. November 2nd is a stacked night for Boxing fans and this card bolsters that sentiment. The WBO world super-lightweight title is up for grabs this weekend. The event emanates from Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. This is an away game for the champ Linardatou and the Irish native Taylor will have the partisan support of the UK crowd. The odds for this prizefight and my analysis of the bout are below.
Taylor vs Linardatou Odds
Fighter | Odds |
---|---|
Katie Taylor | -2500 |
Christina Linardatou | +1000 |
Odds taken Oct. 30
Linardatou is in a unique position in terms of pundit/ fan perception. She is the defending champion but is the underdog and the B-side on a promotional level. Taylor’s status as a 2012 Olympic Gold medalist and a world champion professional boxer, it’s understandable that many people are high on her.
She also won four major belts in the lightweight division and is now moving up to capture accolades in a heavier weight class. Lindaradatou is a live dog though and is a killer at 140 lbs. I think she’ll definitely have her moments but ultimately I’m leaning towards Taylor.
Taylor Collects Additional Gold
This has been a banner year for women’s boxing and this fight is another bout that will continue to grow the sport. Linardatou is regarded by many as the best 140lb-er in the world and is coming off of a successful defense in her last outing. She is also no stranger to making history. Linardatou’s title-winning effort over Kandi Wyatt was the first title fight in the history of Greece.
This fight just continues to build on that legacy. Standing in the way of another big accomplishment is one of modern boxing’s most hotly discussed female fighters.

I think one big reason for the odds being as slanted as they are is because of a common opponent that these two share. Linardatou’s lone career loss is to Delfine Persoon. The same Persoon who Taylor last defeated. It was by no means an easy fight for her but I still think people apply some kind of combat sports math to this situation. Which is to say that some might perceive Persoon as a device to make a case for Taylor being the favorite over Linardatou.
The champ has a chip on her shoulder heading into this one it seems. Linardatou feels slighted on the promotional end of things and senses they’re putting all of their eggs into the proverbial Katie Taylor basket. She is looking to retain her title and reign on the preemptive parade for Katie Taylor.
Taylor vs Linardatou Tale of the Tape
14-0 | Record | 12-1 |
6 | Knockouts | 6 |
5’5 | Height | 5’4 |
66″ | Reach | N/A |
Delfine Persoon, Eva Wahlstrom, Cindy Serrano | Significant Wins | Kandi Wyatt, Deanha Hobbs, Alycia Baumgardner |
orthodox | Stance | orthodox |
The future is intriguing for each fighter with potential bouts with Delfine Persoon and multi-divisional titlist Amanda Serrano possibly looming on the horizon. Based on the KO rates that each fighter has and the durability of each, I can’t see a stoppage happening here. I can see Taylor getting the unanimous decision victory when all is said and done.
Pick: Taylor (-2500)
