Anderson Silva and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr collide in a boxing bout this summer. Silva vs Chavez Jr emanates from Jalisco Stadium in Guadalajara, Mexico, and is set to broadcast on pay per view. Chavez Jr is the favorite in the opening odds.
The June 19th event will be titled “Tribute To The Kings” as Anderson Silva makes his return to gloved boxing for the first time in over fifteen years against a near-sixty fight former world champion in Chavez Jr.

A report from TMZ popped up regarding this bout, and residual dialogue began growing on social media thereafter.
Interestingly enough, this event will feature both Chavez Jr and Chavez Sr competing on the same night.
Julio Cesar Chavez Sr, the 58-year-old Hall of Fame warrior, will compete in a “special exhibition bout” against the 42-year-old Hector Camacho Jr. Chavez Sr had an in-ring history with Camacho’s father and engaged in some fistic fireworks with Macho Camacho years ago.
Anderson Silva’s Return to Boxing
While Anderson Silva is predominantly known for his efforts within mixed martial arts (recording an overall record of 34-11 with one no contest), he does have some sweet science experience as well.
The Spider has a 1-1 pro record under Queensberry Rules, with his last boxing bout taking place in August 2005. That cruiserweight contest saw Silva score a second-round knockout victory over the debuting Julio Cesar De Jesus.
While Anderson Silva is the most established middleweight champion in UFC’s history, he has gone through a bit of a rough run as of late.
One that saw him taste defeat to Uriah Hall during their main event bout last Halloween and end his time in the promotion by winning once across his last nine fights.

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr has taken on some stiff competition in the world of gloved boxing. He has faced warriors like Daniel Jacobs, Canelo Alvarez, and Sergio Martinez to name a few.
Chavez Jr has gone .500 across his last eight prizefights, posting up a 4-4 record over the last few years. He has an overall professional boxing record of 52-5-1 with 34 stoppage victories.
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr is a former WBC middleweight world champion. He last defended that crown when he stopped Andy Lee in the seventh round of their June 2012 bout.
Silva vs Chavez Jr pits a 45-year-old MMA icon against a 35-year-old former champion boxer.
Chavez Jr has the obvious experience advantage within the boxing world, but Silva will have a decent size advantage here.
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr mostly fought at 160 pounds and 168 pounds but has been fighting at 175 pounds as of late. Conversely, Silva has had the bulk of his MMA bouts at 185 pounds, with some jumps up to compete at 205 pounds as well.
Unlike the recent trends of exhibition bouts, this is an official contest and is scheduled for ten rounds at a reported 180 pound catchweight per Bad Left Hook.

Chavez Jr is the justifiable favorite in the opening odds. I think outside of a bit of late underdog money coming in on Silva, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr will remain the favorite leading up to this one.
Though Chavez Jr has been a bit of a letdown at several points in the last nine years or so, he still has enough localized experience in boxing to be heavily favored here.
