Florida State Seminoles (-7.5, 49.5 o/u) at Boston College Eagles

Two weeks into the 2015 season, the Florida State Seminoles (2-0, 0-0 Away) haven’t missed a beat, despite losing 2013 Heisman Trophy-winning QB Jameis Winston to the NFL. Notre Dame transfer Everett Golson now has the reins in Tallahassee and has kept the Noles’ offense prolific. But the quality of competition is about to ramp up as Florida State will start its ACC schedule with a tough road game against the Boston College Eagles (2-0, 2-0 Home) on Friday night (8:00 PM Eastern Time)

In lopsided wins over the Texas State Bobcats (59-16) and South Florida Bulls (34-14), Golson has completed 64.7-percent of his passes for 465 yards and five touchdowns. He has spread the ball around and looked comfortable in coach Jimbo Fisher’s offensive style.

“I think he feels good about it. I think he understands things,” Fisher said during his weekly press conference on Monday. “We just got to continue to get all the little details of things and the nuances of it.”

Most importantly, Golson hasn’t committed any turnovers. The senior really struggled with interceptions last season in Notre Dame – throwing 14 over the final nine weeks of the regular season – and was eventually replaced by freshman Malik Zaire as a result.

While the Noles have cruised to two easy wins, they are just 1-1 ATS, failing to cover as 28.5-point favorites against USF. Boston College is also 1-1 against the number, covering in a preposterous 76-0 win over Howard, but taking an ATS loss in their 24-3 win over Maine.

Last season, the Noles beat BC at home by a field goal, but failed to deliver for bettors as 16.5-point faves. FSU is currently sitting as 7.5-point road favorites for Friday’s game, which looks like a lot given BC’s performances to date. But Golson gives this team a legitimate chance to run up the score each week, and I expect the Noles and their myriad playmakers to distance the Eagles in the second half.

Pick: Florida State -7.
