  • Georgia and Alabama are both 5-0 in the only top-six matchup on the Week 6 board
  • Three Friday night games open the weekend, including a 10:15 pm ET start in Provo
  • See kickoff times, TV channels and odds for my 10 best Week 6 college football games

Choosing the best Week 6 college football games to watch starts with a prime-time problem. Two unbeaten top-six teams meet in Tuscaloosa at 7:30, and that’s only one of three games I want on at once.

The Red River Rivalry is back at the Cotton Bowl, Penn State hosts its White Out, and Friday gives us three games before Saturday even starts.

Here’s the full TV schedule for the 10 best Week 6 college football games to watch, followed by my ranking of them.

Spreads and totals are consensus numbers as of October 5 and will move before kickoff. The Iowa at Washington network is still listed as FOX or FS1 pending MLB. Check the latest college football odds before Friday night, or compare prediction market apps for event-contract options.

1. Georgia at Alabama

  • Kickoff: 7:30 pm ET
  • TV: ABC
  • Spread: Alabama -1.5
  • Total: 55.5

Two 5-0 SEC teams, the only top-six matchup of the week, in prime time. Nothing else needs to be said to sell it.

Georgia beat Vanderbilt 38-14 with 471 yards, and Gunner Stockton went 25 of 32 for a season-high 295 yards and three touchdowns. Alabama put up 56 on Mississippi State the same day, scoring exactly 14 points in every quarter.

Keelon Russell accounted for four touchdowns in that one, and the Tide held State to 18 rushing yards. The Georgia vs Alabama line is a point and a half, which is about right for two teams sitting this high in the national championship odds.

2. Texas vs Oklahoma

  • Kickoff: 3:30 pm ET
  • TV: ABC
  • Spread: Texas -8.5
  • Total: 39.5

The Red River Rivalry at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, neutral site, split stadium, everything you want from it.

Texas has held the No. 1 spot for four straight polls and comes off an idle week at 4-0. Oklahoma was off too, and the Sooners are 2-2 with road trips to Michigan and Georgia already behind them, the second ending in a 41-13 loss.

The Texas vs Oklahoma number sits at 8.5 with a 39.5 total, the lowest on this list. Rivalry games have a way of ignoring records, and an upset here would scramble the College Football Playoff bracket in a hurry. For readers following the game in Dallas, our Texas prediction markets guide explains how event contracts work.

3. USC at Penn State

  • Kickoff: 7:30 pm ET
  • TV: NBC
  • Spread: Penn State -1.5
  • Total: 54.5

The White Out is worth the price of admission on its own. Add two teams that need this result and you have the best alternative to Tuscaloosa.

USC trailed Washington by 11 in the second half and won 25-21, closing with the last 15 points. Jahkeem Stewart returned a fumble 48 yards during that stretch.

Penn State is 3-2 and 0-2 in the Big Ten after losing 34-13 at Northwestern, with Rocco Becht throwing for 243 yards. USC vs Penn State is tied with Georgia-Alabama for the tightest spread on my list at a point and a half.

4. UCLA at Oregon

  • Kickoff: 3:30 pm ET
  • TV: CBS
  • Spread: Oregon -11.5
  • Total: 59.5

The weekend’s other ranked matchup, and the first real test of whether UCLA’s 4-0 start is the real thing. Both teams were off in Week 5.

The Bruins last won 54-3 at Maryland with five takeaways, two of them returned for scores. They have hit 50 points in back-to-back conference games for the first time since 1973 and own 18 rushing touchdowns in four games.

Wayne Knight has a rushing score in every game and ran for 100 yards on 10 carries at Maryland. Oregon beat USC 41-27 in its last outing, and the UCLA vs Oregon odds have the Ducks at 11.5 with a 59.5 total, the highest number here.

5. Indiana at Nebraska

  • Kickoff: Noon ET
  • TV: FOX
  • Spread: Indiana -7.5
  • Total: 51.5

Two 5-0 Big Ten teams in Lincoln at noon. Nebraska being unranked does not make this any less fun.

Indiana handled Rutgers 47-15 with 593 total yards, 329 of them rushing. Josh Hoover threw four more touchdowns to get to 15 on the season without an interception.

Matt Rhule spent his Monday media session on the offensive line and the run game, which tells you where he thinks this is won. The Indiana vs Nebraska spread asks the Hoosiers to win by more than a touchdown on the road.

6. Iowa State at BYU

  • Kickoff: Friday, 10:15 pm ET
  • TV: ESPN
  • Spread: BYU -10.5
  • Total: 46.5

Iowa State vs BYU is the latest kickoff among these three Friday games. If you are up, you are watching this.

BYU is 4-0 and climbed to No. 8 after winning 17-10 at TCU. Iowa State is 3-2 and just beat West Virginia 45-42, piling up 577 yards and 29 first downs while holding the ball for 38:14.

Iowa State at BYU is a 10.5-point spread with a 46.5 total, which sets up a contrast between Iowa State’s high-scoring win and BYU’s 17-10 result.

7. Iowa at Washington

  • Kickoff: Friday, 9 pm ET
  • TV: FOX or FS1
  • Spread: Washington -3
  • Total: 41.5

A ranked Iowa team flying two time zones west on a Friday. The network is still FOX or FS1 depending on how baseball shakes out.

Iowa took its first loss 31-14 to Ohio State and got outgained 484-238. Hank Brown left in the fourth quarter, and Jeremy Hecklinski came in to finish 5 of 5 for 67 yards with a 75-yard touchdown drive.

Washington has dropped two straight by a combined seven points, 27-24 to Minnesota and 25-21 at USC. Iowa vs Washington carries a 41.5 total, so expect a tight, grinding Friday night.

8. Texas A&M at Missouri

  • Kickoff: Noon ET
  • TV: ABC
  • Spread: Missouri -3.5
  • Total: 48.5

Missouri jumped 11 spots to No. 14 after beating then-No. 8 Florida 45-17. Now comes the hard part, which is proving it wasn’t a one-off.

Texas A&M answered a 35-6 loss at LSU by beating Arkansas 34-7 for the 800th win in program history. The Aggies outgained the Razorbacks 401-214 in that one.

Texas A&M vs Missouri has the Tigers at 3.5 with a 48.5 total. Two teams coming off their best performance of the season, kicking at noon on ABC.

9. Florida State at Louisville

  • Kickoff: Friday, 7 pm ET
  • TV: ESPN
  • Spread: Louisville -3.5
  • Total: 58.5

The weekend starts here, and Louisville has been involved in one close finish after another.

The Cardinals are 2-3 after losing 31-28 at NC State, their second straight three-point defeat. They average 38.6 points and 486 yards, with Lincoln Kienholz sitting on 1,394 passing yards, nine touchdowns and one interception.

They also give up 423 yards a game, which explains why Florida State vs Louisville comes with a 58.5 total. The Seminoles are 3-2 and this is a short number for a Friday opener.

10. LSU at Kentucky

  • Kickoff: 7 pm ET
  • TV: ESPN
  • Spread: LSU -8.5
  • Total: 54.5

A top-10 team on the road in the SEC against a team that just missed the poll. That combination usually produces something.

LSU is 4-1 and up to No. 10 after a 63-14 win over McNeese. Kentucky is also 4-1 and 2-1 in the league, and it fell out of the AP Top 25 while collecting more votes than any other unranked team.

LSU vs Kentucky is set at 8.5 points with a 54.5 total. This is the 7 pm game people flip to during a commercial and end up staying with.
