  • Hip-hop superstar Kanye West continues to pull out all the stops during his newest album cycle
  • Last weekend, West performed at a church in Houston, Texas, and is expected to continue across the United States
  • Kanye continues to promote his new album, Jesus is King. Which church will he bring the live experience to next?

It’s definitely not your average arena tour. In fact, this superstar trek across the United States isn’t being held in arenas at all. Kanye West has officially moved on from stadiums to churches. Welcome to “Sunday Service.”

Music blog The Fader calls this new outing a combination of “Kanye’s love of music, fashion, and Jesus Christ. Sunday Service is religion hand-crafted for the social media age.”

West’s new experience is the latest maneuver in an oft-controversial career. Now that the A-list rapper has made a pit stop at Houston, Texas’ Lakewood Church, fans are wondering where Sunday Service will pop up next.

Which Mega-Church Will Kanye West’s Sunday Service Perform at Next?

Elevation Church -125
Rock Church +160
Hillsong +500

Odds taken 11/20/19.

Since January, West’s group, Sunday Service, has appeared every weekend throughout the United States at various venues, mostly in churches (with the odd Coachella experience thrown in). This ensemble that West leads has become a show to watch for both religious fans and music lovers.

Permanently shying away from the typical normalities that come with his type of career, West is a true original in that he must stray away from the pack. Entering a church instead of a music venue to see him perform, though, is a massive diversion even for West.

When West popped up in Houston last weekend, the November 17 setlist ended up being a cornucopia of traditional religious tunes, material from his new album Jesus is King and the odd West classic thrown in for good measure. And each show seems to be bigger than the last, which is why the next venue is being speculated.

It doesn’t really matter why West is doing this, but he’s always done art his own way. This new turn may seem altogether confusing for those new to West’s trajectory, but it makes complete sense when analyzing West as an individual.

Jesus Walks

West’s appearance at any future church will certainly bring an air of notoriety to the said venue, but keep in mind some religious houses would likely shy away from the appearance given that it could bring attention for the wrong reasons.

It takes a lot of work to bring these types of events to life. Surely West’s people are doing a lot of heavy lifting behind the scenes to pull off this tour of sorts. These venues are probably hard to book on a Sunday, given that it’s the one day of the week they’re being utilized for their primary purpose.

Now that Sunday Service has picked up a lot of steam, bigger venues are stepping up to host West and his ensemble though. Considering last weekend he played in a venue that hosts up to 16,800 guests, the sky is seemingly the limit for this endeavor.

When you consider that these churches probably see a massive increase in revenue, it’s best to look to the biggest option when guessing where West and his group are going to pop up next.

Elevation Church in Matthews, North Carolina is an obvious step up for Sunday Service. Boasting a massive venue capacity of 25,000, Elevation truly has the potential to elevate (See what we did there?) West’s offering to a bigger audience than ever.

Pick: Elevation Church (-125)
