  • Bagel Boss vs Screech goes Saturday, September 28th
  • Will Screech showcase his powers on Saturday night?
  • Will Bagel Boss become a hero to diminutive bagel shop customers throughout the world?

Bagel Boss vs Screech is a compelling celebrity boxing match but was not the initial fight that was booked. Lenny Dykstra was supposed to fight the viral bagel store character but dropped out just days from the fight. Stepping up to maintain this boxing bout is 90’s television sensation Screech also known by his government name of Dustin Diamond.

The Showboat Casino in Atlantic City plays host to this bizarre prize fight that we never knew we needed or wanted until it was announced. Bagel Boss is making his in-ring debut while Diamond has a history of celebrity boxing but he has not tasted victory in well over a decade. Check out the odds and my thoughtful pugilistic analysis below!

Bagel Boss vs Dustin Diamond Odds

Fighter Odds
Chris “Bagel Boss” Morgan +500
Dustin “Screech” Diamond -800

*Odds taken Sept. 25th

Celebrity Boxing promoter Damon Feldman called Diamond almost immediately after he got news of Dykstra dropping out. Screech’s response was just as immediate as he accepted the fight right away. Dykstra’s withdrawal from the bout came on Howard Stern’s “Howard 101” show with Dykstra indicating he would need to be focusing on some legal issues.

Morgan has been working with former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman as well as guys like top-ranked UFC lightweight Al Iaquinta. It’s not completely clear if Diamond has been training as of late but he does have some in-ring experience to his credit.

Back in 2002, he fought and defeated Ron Palillo from Welcome Back, Kotter. He does have a spotless celebrity boxing record but a hiatus close to two decades creates a lot of questions as to how Diamond will look out there.

Morgan Won’t Be Saved By the Bell

As a quick recap, for those who might be uninformed, Bagel Boss became known for a tantrum in a bagel shop. One where he was lambasting women in the shop for supposedly making fun of his stature, or lack thereof.

After a lengthy episode of complaining about his romantic woes, a fellow bagel shop customer took Morgan down to the ground instantly. Morgan’s 15 minutes of internet fame has been dragging on since. His opponent Diamond is no stranger to being in situations where he can get mouthy as well.

Dykstra and Diamond are fairly different opponents for Morgan. Dykstra was the older guy in the situation and while he did have a reach advantage, it wasn’t quite as pronounced. Diamond’s reach advantage over Morgan will be even more evident but also Diamond is younger than Morgan. This might take some steam out of Bagel Boss’ promos where he talked about being the younger guy and having an edge when Dykstra was the guy he thought he’d be fighting.

Bagel Boss vs Screech Tale of the Tape

Bagel Boss
VS
Screech
0-0 (0-1 in bagel shops) Record 1-0
The Lollipop Guild Camp/Team affiliation Bayside High
22″ Reach 69″
The hearts of diminutive, heartbroken men the world over Significant Wins Ron PalilloZack Morris that one episode where he ripped his shirt
Being one of the more prominent memes for summer 2019 Significant titles/ distinctions Being Principal Belding’s assistant in The New Class episodes

I can see Diamond putting a ridiculous beating on Bagel Boss. I think Screech either finishes him inside the distance or gets a cartoonishly lopsided unanimous decision win.

Pick: Diamond (-800)
