  • Dota Summit 10 takes place July 25-28
  • Are Alliance the clear-cut favorite?
  • Do other teams offer better value to come out on top at the Summit?

The tenth Dota Summit is set to take place July 25-28, 2019 and will be one of the last tournaments that will take place before TI9. Most of the teams that will be in attendance at The Summit aren’t really teams that have been contenders in the Dota Pro Circuit this year at major or premier events. But regardless, it should be tightly contested.

Six teams will be competing for the Dota Summit 10 title, and out of the six, only two teams are currently listed in the top-15 in the DPC rankings. Alliance currently sits the highest in the rankings this season at 11th, and they head into The Summit as the favorite to come out on top. Is the EU mixsquad the right bet to win out at Dota Summit 10 at such short odds? Or is there a better bet that offers more value to come out on top?

EZ for Alliance?

Alliance have managed to find reasonably decent results in the 2018-19 season, but haven’t been a serious threat at any point to win any events of any real significance. Though since they are going to be competing against lower-tier teams at The Summit, they may just be able to capture a win this time around.

They will definitely be firing on all cylinders at The Summit as it’s one of the last tournaments before TI9. They are the only team that will be at Dota Summit 10 that has qualified for the International with DPC points. Capturing a win at a tournament before heading into the biggest event of all-time not just in Dota, but in all of esports if we’re going by prize pool, would be huge for their confidence and may prove to be a catalyst for them to make a run deep at TI9.

Teams That Offer Better Value

There are three other teams that could very well find themselves hoisting the trophy come tournaments end. Two that are more likely to do so, and one that offers some pretty serious value. I would say other than Alliance, the best bets in order would be J.Storm, Pain, and compLexity.

J.Storm and Pain are teams that have found pretty good results in domestic play and even some reasonably good results on the international stage a few times this year. However, they haven’t really been able to get it done against top teams.

They both offer more value to win at The Summit than Alliance, and both teams certainly could give the EU squad a run for their money if they’re on their A-game.

The last team I would suggest taking a look at due to their value would be compLexity. They have been improving pretty steadily over the past year, and though they haven’t had the best results this season, they have shown they can steal games over some pretty good teams. At +1300 they are most definitely worth considering to win out at The Summit.

Pick: Alliance (+100)
