  • A trio of American pitchers are featured in the June 24th slate of Korea Baseball Organization games
  • Lotte’s Dan Straily looks to overcome the only team that has bested him, while NC’s Mike Wright looks to repeat a strong performance against a team he dominated early in the season

The Lotte Giants are having a mediocre season. You can see that in their record (21-21), their run differential (minus-5), and their place in the KBO standings (6th of 10).

You know who’s not having a mediocre season? Giants ace Dan Straily. After eight big-league seasons, the American right-hander is largely shredding the competition during his first year in the KBO. Only one of his nine starts so far has gone sideways. That came against the KIA Tigers, and it just so happens he’s about to face them again with a shot at redemption.

Here’s a look at the entire slate of KBO games for Wednesday, June 24th. All games start at 5:30 am ET (2:30 am PT).

Odds as of June 23.

Straily’s Second Try vs. Tigers

The only real blemish for Dan Straily (1-2, 2.10 ERA) through nine starts was his May 20 outing against KIA. On that day, he allowed five runs on six hits and four walks in six innings.

Here’s what he has done since then: 1.07 ERA, 35 strikeouts, and seven walks in five starts. His record is 0-0 in that time because Lotte failed to offer viable run support.

There’s been more stability on the offensive front lately, though, as Lotte has recorded eight-plus hits in 14 consecutive games. Pair that with Straily’s run of success and you’re looking at a winning combination for the Giants.

Pick: Lotte Giants (-165)

Wright Is Right at Home vs. KT Wiz

If you possess a “what have you done for me lately” mindset, Mike Wright might not be a player you want to support right now. His most recent start, a nine-hit, seven-run blowup loss against KIA, is still quite fresh.

But if you are willing to appreciate Wright’s full body of work this season, you’ll notice he is 5-2 with a respectable 3.80 ERA.

Wright’s 2020 resume includes a May 13 start against KT Wiz Suwon — his opponent on June 24 — in which he allowed just one run on five hits in six innings of work.

Wright’s Dinos are atop the league standings, but they barely scratched out a win against Suwon on Monday. Being able to send a pitcher to the mound that has seen success against KT Wiz previously should help.

Pick: NC Dinos (-174)

Simple Trends

Let’s keep this last one extra simple, OK?

The Doosan Bears are riding a five-game winning streak. The SK Wyverns are on a seven-game losing streak. In Monday’s matchup, Doosan scored twice in the first and never looked back in a 9-2 win.

Doosan is the better team and is streaking in the right direction. Ride that trend.

Pick: Doosan Bears (-165)
