The Brewers (41-24) and Athletics (32-35) finish up their three-game set in Las Vegas Ballpark Wednesday, with the victor taking the series. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 PM PT / 9:05 PM ET. In the first two games of this set, Milwaukee won 15-14 in twelve innings, and then the Athletics returned the favor 7-5.
Brandon Sproat and Jack Perkins will start for the respective squads, and both have bloated ERA’s over 6. Subsequently, the over/under totals market sits at a gargantuan 14.5 runs. Keep reading for my breakdown of this game, along with my favorite prediction and MLB player props wager.
Brewers vs Athletics Picks & Predictions
- The Pick: Over 14.5 runs (-112 at FanDuel)
- Player Prop Pick: Shea Langeliers to hit a home run (+193 on DraftKings)
I am targeting the offensive production in this matchup. Taking the Over is my most appealing play because both starting pitchers have struggled significantly to keep runs off the board, even if it’s hard to stomach expecting at least 15 runs.
Brewers starter Brandon Sproat surrenders 1.83 home runs per nine innings and has a 6.17 ERA. That spells trouble against an Athletics lineup slugging .406 with 84 homers this season (8th in MLB).
Jack Perkins hasn’t exactly been firing on all cylinders either, with an ERA just slightly worse at 6.19. His latest game he started, surrendering five runs in 4.0 innings of work, so I expect there to be plenty of offense in this duel.
For my top MLB player props pick, I am backing Shea Langeliers to hit a home run. Sproat’s tendency to give up the long ball creates excellent value here, and he hit a long fly in the first game of the series. Sproat has surrendered at least one home run in eight of twelve outings on the season.
Langeliers has mashed 17 home runs this season (leads A’s, tied eighth most in MLB) and is perfectly positioned to exploit this pitching matchup.

Brewers vs Athletics Team Stats
When evaluating situational betting trends, always refer to MLB park factors to gain an edge.
Another massive mismatch tilts toward Milwaukee on the mound. Their pitching staff ranks fourth overall in runs allowed per game and leads baseball with 9.78 strikeouts per nine innings. Meanwhile, the A’s pitching staff sits in the bottom third of the league, surrendering 5.01 runs per contest.
However, the Athletics hold a distinct advantage at the plate in their home splits. They rank second in both home batting average (.264) and home OPS (.798). This consistent contact and power output completely validate the offensive explosion they displayed in the prior matchup.
