The Arizona Diamondbacks and Pittsburgh Pirates will battle for a series win, in what’s been a highly entertaining set the first two games.

Arizona bounced back from a 3-2 loss to edge Pittsburgh 8-7 Tuesdasy, fueled by a 16-hit offensive showcase that just outpaced a 14-hit effort from the hometown squad.

Both squads step onto the diamond with identical 55-52 records, making this mid-summer contest a crucial spot for climbing the standings, with the books leaning on the home team as favorites in the MLB odds.

First pitch goes at 12:35pm ET from PNC Park in Pittsburgh, with MLB TV providing the broadcast coverage.

Diamondbacks vs Pirates Predictions

Diving into the statistical profiles of both teams points toward a clear path for today.

PICK: Diamondbacks Moneyline (+115 at Caesars): Eduardo Rodriguez has been incredibly reliable this season. He compiled a sharp 2.64 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP over 122.2 innings. Although Jared Jones has been impressive for Pittsburgh, his smaller sample size makes it harder to trust the home favorites.

PICK: Under 8.5 Runs (-115 at Caesars): Both MLB probable pitchers (Rodriguez and Pittsburgh’s Jared Jones) possess run-prevention metrics that suggest a low-scoring affair. Fading the heavily juiced Over is the logical play with Rodriguez inducing weak contact and Jones limiting base runners.

Turning to MLB player props, there are several enticing angles to attack.

PICK: Jared Jones Over 5.5 Strikeouts (+122 at FanDuel): The right-hander boasts an elite 10.37 K/9 rate. FanDuel offers the best price at +122, compared to +101 at DraftKings and +109 at Caesars. Backing his swing-and-miss stuff at the highest available number is a high-value proposition.

PICK: Bryan Reynolds Over 1.5 Total Bases (+113 at Caesars): He has been the heartbeat of the Pittsburgh offense, slugging .459 with 15 home runs. Both DraftKings and Caesars are offering +113 on this line.

PICK: Corbin Carroll to Record a Run (-104 at Caesars): A strong situational play to manufacture early offense on the Arizona side. Caesars posts the sharpest price at -104, making this a near coin-flip wager with solid upside.

Analyzing MLB batter vs pitcher stats, the Diamondbacks enter this contest with virtually no history against Jones. Max Kepler and Nolan Arenado are the only batters with previous at-bats. This unfamiliarity gives a distinct early-game advantage to the young strikeout artist on the mound.

Conversely, the Pirates lineup features much more familiarity with Rodriguez. Bryan Reynolds has posted a sharp .375 batting average against the southpaw. Brandon Lowe presents an intriguing boom-or-bust prop target, as three of his four career hits off Rodriguez are home runs, despite striking out nine times.

The total is set at 8.5 runs, with the Over getting -104 odds and the Under getting -114 odds at DraftKings.

Looking at th MLB public betting splits, an there’s some variance on the moneyline, with 64% of the tickets on the Pirates to win, though 53% of the stake is on the Diamondbacks.

It’s a mittle more favorable for the Pirates on the spread, with the public taking them on 55% of the tickets, accounting gor 66% of the money.

The opening total has remained stagnant despite the splits showing heavy action on the Over. Currently, 73% of tickets and 76% of the total handle are backing a high-scoring affair. Bookmakers appear content to hold their ground on the total.
