5.00 SO/W Ratio

Dodgers lefty Urias leads the National League with 15 wins. He’s won his last seven decisions. Urias is unbeaten since June 21. He’s allowed two earned runs or fewer over each of his last seven starts. In that span, Urias is 3-0 with a 1.39 ERA. He’s struck out 39 over his last 38.2 innings pitched while walking just nine batters.

Urias has worked a minimum of five innings each of the last 11 times he’s toed the rubber. He ranks among the top 6% in the NL in hard hit percentage (30). Urias is also among the top 7% in exit velocity (86.2) and the top 10% in bases on balls percentage (5.3). He’s 11-2 with a 2.71 ERA in 15 road starts during the 2021 season.

In four starts against the Giants this season, Urias is 1-0 with a 3.80 ERA and 1.09 WHIP.  The Giants roughed him up for season-high seven runs and 11 hits on May 29. Over his career the southpaw is 1-3 with a 2.69 ERA against San Fran in 19 appearances, 13 of them starts.

Since starting pitchers Johnny Cueto and Alex Wood are each on the IL, Giants manager Gabe Kapler is going with bullpen games both Saturday and Sunday. It’s expected that he’ll either hand the ball to lefty Sammy Long or southpaw Jose Quintana.

Claimed on waivers Monday from the Los Angeles Angels, Quintana worked his 3.1 innings of scoreless relief with six strikeouts in his Giants debut the next night. He’s faced the Dodgers twice this season. Quintana has allowed one earned run and two hits in 4.2 innings against LA while striking out six.

Quintana has faced the Dodgers seven times in his career. Six of those appearances were starts. He’s 1-1 with a 2.00 ERA.

Long last pitched on Sunday, allowing six earned runs in 4.2 innings while opposing the Atlanta Braves. He’s faced the Dodgers once this season. The rookie pitched two scoreless innings against them on July 29. Long allowed two hits and struck out two.
