The Chicago Cubs (32-30) and the Athletics (30-31) finish up their series tonight at Wrigley Field at 8:05 PM ET / 5:05 PM PT with the A’s attempting the three-game sweep. In the first two outings, they’ve won by scores of 2-1 and 5-4 (10 innings), but despite the victories, Chicago is the favorite in the MLB odds Thursday night.

In the last twelve A’s games, under 10.5 total runs have been accumulated in ten instances. For Chicago, ten of 14 battles have resulted in less than 10.5 combined runs plating.
My favorite MLB player props wager points towards J.T. Ginn tossing four or more strikeouts. Ginn misses bats effectively with an 8.20 K/9. Against a Cubs lineup that strikes out frequently, four punchouts is a highly attainable baseline. He’s reached that milestone in five of his last six outings.
Starting Pitchers Season Statistics
The MLB probable pitchers are the aforementioned J.T. Ginn up against the Cubs’ Shota Imanaga. Ginn enters sporting a highly impressive 2.56 ERA over his ten starts. However, his 4.11 FIP suggests he has benefited from favorable variance, driven by a stifling .195 opponent batting average. Despite the low ERA, he struggles with command, issuing 4.10 walks per nine innings.
On the other side, Imanaga has seen his ERA rise to 4.37, after getting pounded in his last three starts. He’s surrendered a whopping 20 earned combined runs, not pitching further than the sixth inning. His season ERA has swollen to 4.37 from 2.32, due to his poor last three times toeing the rubber.
