  • The Blue Jays are the favorites to win the second game of their series against the Mets Tuesday night
  • Both squads have been scuffling and are desperately needing victories
  • See the Mets vs Blue Jays odds, my favorite bets and MLB player props wager

The Blue Jays (40-45) and Mets (35-50) duel in the second of a three-game set, after Toronto won game 1 Monday by a 2-1 score. First pitch is scheduled for 7:07 PM ET / 4:07 PM PT at the Rogers Centre. Toronto, which snapped a six-game skid with that win, is the favorite to do it again in the MLB odds. New York has already been scuffling, dropping a woeful nine of ten contests.

The Blue Jays will hand the ball to veteran Kevin Gausman while the Mets counter with Nolan McLean. Continue reading for my preview for this interleague matchup, and my favorite bets to wager on Tuesday night.

My Picks:

  • Moneyline: Toronto 54¢ (via Kalshi)
  • Total Runs: Under 7.5 at 48¢ for No (via Kalshi)
  • Player Prop: Francisco Lindor Over 0.5 Hits (-200 via BetMGM)

The underlying metrics point toward a low-scoring affair and a slight edge for the home team. New York has struggled at the plate all season. They carry a collective .230 batting average and a sluggish .673 team OPS. Toronto boasts a slightly better offensive profile with a .247 team average and a .699 OPS. Given that both Gausman and McLean possess high strikeout upside, my official lean is on Toronto to win outright and the Under on the run total.

The data paints a picture of two teams hovering in the bottom third of the league offensively. Toronto holds a definitive advantage when manufacturing runs at the Rogers Centre. Their .248 home batting average outpaces the dismal .226 road average from New York. Consequently, the visiting team is scratching across just 3.67 runs per game.

Because of the overall offensive woes for New York, Francisco Lindor has been a welcomed sight in his return from a calf injury and he’s my focus in the MLB player props. He has recorded at least one base hit in five of his last six games and seven of nine, playing in the last four affairs following a two-month absence.

Pitching Matchup: Nolan McLean vs Kevin Gausman

PitcherW-LERAWHIPFIPK/9BB/9OBAIP/Start
Kevin Gausman (TOR)4-64.361.193.788.812.08.2495.59
Nolan McLean (NYM)4-54.031.123.6910.683.43.2045.58

The MLB probable pitchers has Nolan McLean up against Kevin Gausman. McLean averages 10.68 strikeouts per nine innings and brings a dynamic swing-and-miss arsenal. He has stymied opponents to a meager .204 batting average. Conversely, Gausman relies on limiting free passes. He issues slightly over two walks per nine innings, using command to navigate through lineups.

Gausman has posted a 5.30 ERA over his last 10 appearances, getting smashed for 13 earned runs in his previous two starts. McLean struggled in his latest outing also, surrendering six runs in six innings of work vs the Cubs. Before that, he hadn’t allowed more than two earned runs in his last four times toeing the rubber.
