Bellator MMA remains in Uncasville, Connecticut this Thursday, October 29th, 2020 for a very solid Bellator 250 card.

In the main event, former middleweight champion, Gegard Mousasi is looking to reclaim his title as he takes on the welterweight champion, Douglas Lima in what is one of the most anticipated fights in 2020 in any promotion.  The co-main event sees Henry Corrales take on the always exciting, Brandon Girtz at featherweight.

Bellator 250 main card airs live on CBS Sports Network and on DAZN in Canada at 8 PM EST. The table below shows odds for the main card followed by best bets for the event.

Will Lima Become a Champ-Champ?

Gegard Mousasi is set to fight another Bellator welterweight champion in Douglas Lima for the middleweight just as he did with Rory MacDonald back in September of 2018.

Mousasi & Lima Recent Fights

Mousasi
VS
Lima
Lyoto Machida, win by split decision Fight 1 Rory MacDonald, win by decision (title fight)
Rafael Lovato Jr., loss by majority decision (title fight) Fight 2 Michael Page, win by KO
Rory MacDonald, win by TKO (title fight) Fight 3 Andrey Koreshakov, win by submission
Rafael Carvalho, win by TKO (title fight) Fight 4 Rory MacDonald, loss by decision (title fight)

This should be a phenomenal fight and one of the harder fights to predict.

Mousasi will no doubt have a size advantage as he has fought as high as heavyweight and is a big middleweight. Lima, on the other hand, is a natural welterweight. If he gets taken down, he might not have the strength to get back up, as we saw the size difference play a major factor in Mousasi vs. MacDonald.

On the feet, Lima is the better striker, but the wrestling edge goes to Mousasi. So, if Lima can stuff the takedowns and keep it standing, he is the faster fighter and will use his footwork to pick apart Mousasi on the feet.

However, I don’t think he will be able to stuff the takedowns. I expect Mousasi to have a wrestling heavy game plan to get Lima down and land ground and pound.

Mousasi vs Lima Stats

Mousasi
VS
Lima
35 Age 32
6’2″ Height 6’1″
76″ Reach 74.5″
2 Bellator finishes 10

Lima is very durable, so I don’t think Mousasi will be able to finish him but he will win a clear-cut decision to reclaim his middleweight title. Not to mention, Mousasi at -150 is a solid price.

Pick: Gegard Mousasi (-150)

How Will Girtz Look at Featherweight?

Brandon Girtz will be moving down to featherweight for the first time in his career to take on a perennial contender in Henry Corrales.

Corrales & Girtz Recent Fights

Corrales
VS
Girtz
Juan Archuleta, loss by decision Fight 1 Myles Jury, loss by decision
Darrion Caldwell, loss by decision Fight 2 Saad Awad, win by decision
Aaron Pico, win by KO Fight 3 Michael Chandler, loss by submission
Andy Main, win by TKO Fight 4 Luka Jelcic, win by TKO

Both Henry Corrales and Brandon Girtz are very similar fighters. They both like to meet in the middle of the cage and throw down, so this should be a very entertaining fight for as long as it lasts.

A big question is how will Girtz’s chin fair at featherweight, but he did look good at weigh-ins, so I don’t think it will be a huge factor. However, on the feet, Corrales hits harder and is the more technical striker. So, I believe he will be able to pick Girtz apart and eventually drop him late in the fight and score a third-round TKO to get back into the win column.

Pick: Henry Corrales (-325)

Other Bellator 250 Picks:

  1. Desiree Yanes (+110): This is a very close fight as the odds suggest, but I like Yanez to be able to outstrike Arteaga to win a decision.
