Israel Adesanya is priced at -286 in the Barstool UFC odds. The Last Style Bender was narrowly favored in his last fight against Whittaker at UFC 243. Derrick Lewis is favored to beat Tai Tuivasa in the co-main event.

With New York online sports betting launching on January 8th, Empire State bettors will be dying to dive into this card. However, Barstool Sportsbook is still not available in NY, but Caesars Sportsbook, BetMGM, and a few others are offering UFC 271 odds.

Adesanya vs Whittaker 2 Odds, Prediction & Best Bet

Israel Adesanya and Robert Whittaker are set to finally have their rematch. The two fought back in October of 2019 in the main event of UFC 243 where Adesanya won by TKO to become the new middleweight champion. Since then, Adesanya is 3-1, losing for the light heavyweight belt, while Whittaker is 3-0.

Adesanya vs Whittaker Recent Fights

Adesanya
VS
Whittaker
Marvin Vettori, win by decision (title fight) Fight 1 Kelvin Gastelum, win by decision
Jan Blachowicz, loss by decision (light heavyweight title fight) Fight 2 Jared Cannonier, win by decision
Paulo Costa, win by TKO (title fight) Fight 3 Darren Till, win by decision
Yoel Romero, win by decision (title fight) Fight 4 Israel Adesanya, loss by TKO (title fight)

Adesanya and Whittaker are the two best middleweights in the world and they will finally get to run it back. In the first fight, Whittaker was doing well until “The Last Stylebender” dropped him at the end of the first. He then continued to bring the pressure and got the second-round TKO.

In this fight, I do expect Whittaker to try and wrestle as he has said all fight week he believes he is a much better fighter. Now, he is blocking out all the noise as he saw what Blachowicz was able to do to get the win. However, the champ has very good takedown defense and will be able to keep it standing. On the feet, he’s too good of a striker for Whittaker and, in the third or fourth round will land another shot that drops him. Adesanya will eventually get the TKO win.

I like Adesanya straight, but he’s an anchor of a parlay as it gives you the option to hedge out at the end. Caesars Sportsbook lists Adesanya at -280 to win the fight. However, be sure to check back for other potential wagers when UFC 271 props become available.

Pick: Israel Adesanya (-286) at Barstool Sportsbook

Lewis vs Tuivasa UFC 271 Odds and Pick

The co-main event of UFC 271 is a very intriguing heavyweight scrap as Lewis and Tuivasa like to throw punches until someone falls. Both men are also fan-favorites, which only adds to the excitement of this co-main event.

Lewis & Tuivasa Recent Fights

Lewis
VS
Tuivasa
Chris Daukaus, win by KO Fight 1 Augusto Sakai, win by KO
Ciryl Gane, loss by TKO (interim title fight) Fight 2 Greg Hardy, win by KO
Curtis Blaydes, win by KO Fight 3 Harry Hunsucker, win by TKO
Aleksei Oleinik, win by KO Fight 4 Stefan Struve, win by KO

This fight could come down to who lands the first clean punch. Both men have the power to shut each other’s lights off, while Tuivasa has good leg kicks, and Lewis throws flying knees and head kicks. The odds have this one right as Lewis is the better all-around fighter, and he has a better chin than Tuivasa.

He should be able to catch him and get the TKO win in the first or second round to extend his winning streak to two. At -190, he is priced very well, but he could also be a good parlay piece. DraftKings lists Lewis as a -180 favorite, so if you’re looking to lay a bet on him make sure to shop around at multiple online sportsbooks when making your UFC 271 picks.

Pick: Derrick Lewis (-190) at Barstool Sportsbook

Other UFC 271 Picks:

  • Jared Cannonier (-190): Cannonier will be able to stuff the takedowns of Cannonier and eventually will find the KO shot.
  • Kyler Phillips (-375): This is a total mismatch as Phillips is the better striker and will be able to piece up Rojo to either win a decision or get a late TKO. He’s a must-use parlay piece for Saturday night.
  • Bobby Green (-152): I don’t get the odds for this one as I personally lined Green at -200 as he’s a better striker than Haqparast and will be able to keep it standing to win a decision. Green is one of my favorite straight plays on the entire card.
