  • UFC 272 goes down on Saturday, featuring a welterweight grudge match between former roommates and best friends
  • Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal have both vowed to finish the other,  but will that be the case?
  • Let’s take a look at a full UFC 272 betting preview, along with our best prop bets

The UFC is back at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with a welterweight non-title fight headlining the card as Colby Covington is taking on Jorge Masvidal. The two are former roommates, training partners, and best friends that have gone on to hate one another leading to this fight being made. UFC 272 props are available at DraftKings, and more online sportsbooks, with a few UFC 272 picks offering great value.

We’ve already broken down the UFC 272 odds and found value on some fighters. That being said, let’s dive deeper into a UFC 272 betting preview where we look at our best UFC prop bets for the card.

UFC 272 Picks for Props – Total Rounds Odds

Matchup Total Rounds Over Odds Under Odds
Covington vs Masvidal 4.5 -160 +130
dos Anjos vs Moicano 4.5 -110 -120
Barboza vs Mitchell 2.5 -115 -115
Holland vs Oliveira 1.5 -160 +130
Spivac vs Hardy 1.5 -150 +120

All odds as of Mar. 4

Colby Covington vs Jorge Masvidal have the worst odds to go 4.5 rounds at -160 at DraftKings Sportsbook, while Edson Barboza vs Bryce Mitchell is a pick’em to go over 2.5 rounds.

Holland vs Oliveira Under 1.5 Rounds

Kevin Holland is dropping down to welterweight, and in the preview, you know I already like him to finish Alex Oliveira, and I think it happens early. Holland’s problems at middleweight were wrestlers who could hold him down, which he won’t have that problem in this fight.

Oliveira is a striker who has been finished in the first round in two of his past three losses. Holland, meanwhile, has had three fights end in the first round out of his last five. Expect Holland to show off his striking and piece up and hurt Oliveira early and get the finish by strikes. But, it also isn’t out of the question for “Trailblazer” to get the submission win as he is a jiu-jitsu black belt, and Oliveira has been submitted in six of his 11 losses.

At FanDuel the under 1.5 rounds is +136, which presents more value than DraftKings. Barstool Sportsbook, meanwhile, has it at +135, so play this UFC 272 pick at FanDuel or Barstool.

Pick: Holland-Oliveira Under 1.5 Rounds (+130)

UFC 272 Props – To Go The Distance Odds

Matchup Yes Odds No Odds
Covington vs Masvidal -150 +110
dos Anjos vs Moicano -105 -125
Barboza vs Mitchell +110 -150
Holland vs Oliveira +130 -175
Spivac vs Hardy +165 -225

Barboza vs Mitchell Doesn’t Go the Distance

For not having a true title fight, UFC 272 main card is stacked and Edson Barboza vs Bryce Mitchell adds a lot of fun to this card. This is the definition of a striker vs grappler matchup as Barboza is a dynamic striker who can KO you with his hands or feet. Mitchell, meanwhile, might be the best jiu-jitsu fighter at featherweight as he has is one of only two fighters to ever pull off the twister in the UFC.

In the preview, I’m backing Barboza but this fight will look one-sided and complete domination to whoever can implement their game plan. If the Brazilian can keep it standing he is such a better striker than Mitchell, and at 145 lbs he has so much power and will find the KO.  But, if it is Mitchell who can get it to the ground, he will likely find the submission or ground and pound TKO as in Barboza’s 10 losses, six have come by stoppage. Regardless, bet violence in this fight as this fight is unlikely to hit the scorecards.

DraftKings has the best odds on this one at -150 as FanDuel has it at -168 to not go the distance while Barstool has it at -177.

Pick: Barboza-Mitchell Doesn’t Go the Distance (-150) at FanDuel Sportsbook

Covington Method of Victory Pick – KO/TKO

Most people tend to think if Colby Covington wins this fight, it will be decision, however, I tend to believe it will be stoppage, and that presents much more value than laying over -300 on him to win the fight. These two generally hate one another, and Covington will use his wrestling and beat Masvidal up on the ground and try to get him out of there.

Masvidal is also 37-years-old and coming off a brutal KO loss so how his chin will be is a major question mark, as many people thought Usman wouldn’t be able to finish him either. Expect Covington to just wear Masvidal down with ground and pound and eventually have the ref step in. At +350, it’s worth the shot as FanDuel has it at +310 while Barstool Sportsbook lists it at +300.

Illinois online sports betting is opening online registrations again on Saturday, March 5th. UFC 272 promos are available at FanDuel and DraftKings this weekend in-state.

Another one to take a small shot is Kevin Holland by submission at +800. Holland has heard all the talk his ground game sucks, but he has been doing grappling matches, and Oliveira’s weakness is his grappling. With that, don’t be surprised if Holland takes him down and submits him.

Pick: Colby Covington Wins by KO/TKO/DQ (+350) at DraftKings
