Volkov vs Aspinall Odds, Prediction & Best Bet
Tom Aspinall said he wanted to take his career slow but with UFC London needing the main event, he agreed to face perennial contender and former Bellator heavyweight champion Alexander Volkov.
Volkov vs Aspinall Recent Fights
Marcin Tybura, win by decision | Fight 1 | Serghei Spivak, win by TKO |
Ciryl Gane, loss by decision | Fight 2 | Andrei Arlovski, win by submission |
Alistair Overeem, win by TKO | Fight 3 | Alan Baudot, win by TKO |
Walt Harris, win by TKO | Fight 4 | Jake Collier, win by TKO |
This is such an intriguing matchup due to the fact Aspinall has looked like a future heavyweight title contender, but he hasn’t fought the best opponents. But, even with him not fighting ranked opponents, he has finished them all in the first round, minus Arlovski who he submitted in the second. However, he gets a tough test in Volkov, who will have a three-inch reach advantage. Moreover, he’ll have a two-inch height advantage and he has the five-round experience, which Aspinall doesn’t.
Volkov vs Aspinall Stats
33 | Age | 28 |
6’7″ | Height | 6’5″ |
81″ | Reach | 78″ |
4 | UFCÂ Finishes | 4 |
In the opening round, I expect it to be a chess match of sorts as neither of them will want to make a mistake that costs them this fight. The nerves will also be high for Aspinall as he fights at home in his first UFC main event, which also serves as his first UFC fight in front of fans.
Once Aspinall starts to settle in, I expect him to be able to use his jab and speed and piece up Volkov. He also has the wrestling and jiu-jitsu advantage, as we have seen Volkov struggle against wrestlers. The Russian will have moments in the fight, but in the third round, Aspinall’s speed and pressure will begin to be too much for Volkov. He will find the TKO win to get the biggest victory of his career.
Pick: Tom Aspinall (-112)
Allen vs Hooker UFC London Pick
Dan Hooker is dropping back down to featherweight to take on seventh-ranked Arnold Allen in a very fascinating co-main event. Hooker is also just 1-3 in his last four, but those losses came to Islam Makhachev, Michael Chandler, and Dustin Poirier at lightweight. Allen, meanwhile, is a perfect 8-0 in the UFC.
Allen & Hooker Recent Fights
Sodiq Yusuff, win by decision | Fight 1 | Islam Makhachev, loss by submission |
Nik Lentz, win by decision | Fight 2 | Nasrat Haqaprast, win by decision |
Gilbert Melendez, win by decision | Fight 3 | Michael Chandler, loss by KO |
Jordan Rinaldi, win by decision | Fight 4 | Dustin Poirier, loss by decision |
Hooker fought at 145lbs in the UFC from 2014 to 2016 and went 3-3 which is why I don’t really understand the move to featherweight as he was a much better lightweight. Although he lost to three of the top guys, he has proven to be a top-10 guy while at 145lbs, I don’t think that will be the case.
This will be a kickboxing fight and although that is where Hooker is the best, Allen is super underrated, and I expect him to be able to outland Hooker to win a decision. The Brit can also mix in his takedowns to secure the rounds to get one of the biggest wins of his career.
Allen also opened as the favorite, and the public is backing Hooker, which I don’t understand why. Hooker is as low as -110 to win at certain sportsbooks, including FanDuel Sportsbook.
Pick: Arnold Allen (-104)
Other UFC London Odds & Picks:
- Paddy Pimblett (-400): Pimblett is a fan-favorite, and gets a favorable matchup as he will find the stoppage win here. He’s a parlay piece or look for the inside the distance prop.
- Gunnar Nelson (-380): Nelson makes his return to the Octagon and will take Sato down. I think he’ll find the submission win to get back into the win column.
- Sergei Pavlovich (-305): Pavlovich has a ton of power and in the first round will show that with a KO win.
- Nikita Krylov (-175): Krylov will be able to keep this fight standing and outstrike Craig to win a decision, although a KO is not out of the possibility.
