Odds Boosts for NBA Restart Opening Night

After a long hiatus, the 2019-20 NBA regular season continues on Thursday night. We’ve got a pair of games on the board and both – like the rest of the season – will be played on a neutral site at the NBA’s bubble in Orlando.

With various odds boosts on the board at DraftKings and FanDuel, let’s take a look at two and see if there’s any value on the board.

Avoid the First Made Field Goal Odds Boosts

Taking a look at the odds boosts, some of them are less of interest than others. We’ve got a pair of first field goal props for Zion Williamson and Anthony Davis, but these are very hard to predict. That being the case, I’ll avoid both. There’s also a prop and LeBron James and Kawhi Leonard threes made, but Leonard has been shooting terribly so far (12-of-46 in exhibition).

In terms of what is of interest, I would consider taking a boost on the Pelicans-Clippers parlay at +430. The regular payday is +400, so you’re getting a small boost. What I’d do is bet the odds boost parlay and if the Pelicans win, I’d probably hedge on the late game either pre-game or with in-game betting.

Juicy Odds Boosts on King James

Taking a look at the options on the board at FanDuel, they have a different set of options on the board. They have a similar ‘first basket’ prop with Donovan Mitchell and LeBron James – but I’ll pass on those.

One option is whether or not LeBron James scores at least 30 points and the Lakers earn a win. That gets a boost from +410 to +500. Although I do think that the Lakers will probably win this game – especially with Lou Williams out – I think it’s too risky as James scored 20 in his first exhibition game; 30 seems aggressive, so I’ll pass on that.

The other option is a Pelicans and over parlay for the first game, which pays out +270 instead of +222. The Pelicans offense has played well, scoring 99, 119 and 124 in their three scrimmages.

However, Utah has been sluggish at 88, 101 and 112. The Pelicans are favored in this game, so they are expected to get the win. Then we just need the over.

This looks like the best option on the board. We just need a relatively decent showing from New Orleans, who has looked crisp on offense, and then have the Jazz get to about 105 or 110 points for us. This particular odds boost is capped off at $50 but of the ones on the board for tonight’s action, it’s the best that I think has the best shot.
