The Oklahoma City Thunder (62-25, 36-8 home, 50-36-1 ATS) are playing the role of the Western Conference’s #1 seed to a tee. After steamrolling the Pelicans in the first round, the Thunder improved to a perfect 5-0 straight-up in the playoffs with a 117-95 victory over the Dallas Mavericks (54-35, 27-18 away, 51-38 ATS) in Game 1 of their best-of-seven series on Tuesday night.
OKC easily covered as slim 3.5-point home favorites and oddsmakers took notice. The point spread for Mavericks vs Thunder Game 2 has increased to OKC -5. Game 2 tips off at 8:40 pm CT/9:40 pm ET on Thursday night at the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City.
Dallas Mavericks vs OKC Thunder Game 2 Prediction
OKC dominated almost every facet of the game on Tuesday. The Thunder shot better from the field (44.9% vs 39.3%), shot better from three (45.7% vs 34.3%), committed fewer turnovers (9 vs 15), and crushed the Mavericks on the glass (52 rebounds to 39).
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (29 points, nine rebounds, nine assists, two blocks, and a steal) also drastically outplayed both Luka Doncic (19 points on 6-of-19 shooting) and Kyrie Irving (20 points on 7-of-14 shooting), who combined for nine of Dallas’ 15 turnovers in the game.
OKC’s lopsided win on Tuesday continued a trend from the regular season, when the Thunder took three of four from the Mavericks.
Doncic, who was listed as “probable” ahead of Game 1 due to a knee issue, is once again probable for Game 2. But if Tuesday was any indication, the NBA’s leading scorer is not 100%.
The Mavericks don’t have the depth to keep up with the Thunder if Doncic and Kyrie aren’t playing at their absolute peak, and I expect another lopsided win for the Thunder in Game 2.
DAL vs OKC Game 2 pick: Thunder -5 (-110)

DAL vs OKC Game 2 NBA player props from DraftKings on May 9.
Doncic’s point total has come down two full points from 32.5 in Game 1 to 30.5 in Game 2. SGA, on the other hand, has seen his point total increase from 28.5 to 29.5.
Josh Giddey’s point total plummeted from 11.5 to just 8.5 after scoring just two points in 17 minutes in Game 1. Giddey was a -7 in his limited time on the court and I wouldn’t be surprised if Mark Daigneault limited Giddey’s court time again in Game 2. The Dallas defense doesn’t respect him as an outside threat and the Thunder have better floor-spacing options.
DAL vs OKC Game 2 prop picks:
- Doncic under 30.5 points (+110)
- Josh Giddey under 8.5 points (+102)
