Just days after one of the wildest finishes of this bizarro NBA season, the Charlotte Hornets will battle the Golden State Warriors again, with the scene shifting to San Francisco on Friday night.

One element not in that last game was Steph Curry, who missed the tilt in Charlotte with an illness. But the NBA’s second-leading scorer will be in the lineup, and the Dubs are 6-point favorites in this one.

The Hornets have been a nice story this season, sitting in seventh in the East at 15-16, in a mash of nine teams, with three games separating fourth to 12th. Golden State, meanwhile, is hanging tough in eighth in the ultra-competitive West.

About Last Game

There was plenty to unpack from the Feb 20 meeting between these two teams.

It was arguably the best performance the Dubs put together on the year, especially because Curry was sidelined. With less than 10 seconds to go and the Hornets down two, Gordon Hayward hit the floor to recover a jump ball. He called for and was granted a timeout, though it was questionable if he even had possession.

Draymond Green went nuclear, getting hit with two techs with a subsequent ejection. Terry Rozier hit two free throws to tie it, then got the rock for the last shot and made it count.

Ninth-Time Charm?

The Warriors have shaken the stink off that L, however, winning two straight. That’s the eighth time the Dubs have put together back-to-back wins, but they’re still trying for their first three-game win streak this season.

While they’re not your dynasty ‘Dubs, this Golden State team can compete. It starts with Curry, who is posting 30 points a game, second to Bradley Beal in scoring. He’s getting some scoring pop from Kelly Oubre Jr, who’s putting up 22 a game in his last five.

Green has been playing a stellar point-center, forced into the spot with injuries to Kevon Looney and rookie James Wiseman.

Green is averaging 10.7 assists a game in February, and in 12 games, he’s had 10 or more assists in eight of them.

Not surprisingly, the Warriors lead the league in assists at 27.8 a game. That’s helped them to 10th in scoring, potting better than 114 a night.

Hornets are Buzzing

Charlotte is coming off a monster win against one of the West heavies, cooling off the Suns 124-121 on Wednesday night. Malik Monk stepped off the bench and dropped 29 to pace the attack. LaMelo Ball was stellar as well, scoring 20 and dishing out eight assists in the win. Ball will try to carry that momentum into ‘Frisco, as he scored just seven points and was a non-factor the last time these two played.

That’s the only blip in a month where he’s averaging 19.5 points, 6.3 rebounds and 6.3 assists while stroking it at 40.8% from three on nearly seven attempts a game. He’s scored at least 14 points in every other game, with six 20+ point outings, including a career-high 34 in a loss to the Jazz.

Gordon Hayward has added a nice veteran element to this team: he’s averaging 21.8 points and 5.5 rebounds per game, while shooting it at 40.9% from deep. Rozier has cooled off a bit since the Warriors game, scoring just 22 points in his last two outings, but he’s averaged 24.7 points a game this month and maybe the Dubs bring out the best of him again.

What’s the Best Bet?

These two teams definitely do offense better than defense: the Hornets rank 19th in points allowed at 112.3 per game, followed closely by the Warriors at 20th. Both teams also like to get into the open court, tied for fourth in the league in fast break points per game at 15.1.

I’m seeing a track meet, a ton of threes, and a blow by of that total.

The pick: OVER 233 points (-110)
