There’s no shortage of action in the Bay Area on Sunday night. The 49ers host the Cowboys in the NFL’s Divisional Round, and just as that game is wrapping up, the Warriors (23-23, 17-5 home) will tipoff with the Nets (28-17, 15-10).

A couple weeks ago this game looked much more intriguing, but that was before Kevin Durant went down. KD will remain out of the Brooklyn lineup for a couple more weeks and as we’ll explore the Nets have struggled without him.

Online sportsbooks don’t expect too much of a fight from Brooklyn on Sunday, as Golden State is the heavy chalk in the NBA odds.

The Warriors are currently favored by 7-points, in a game without a total as of Saturday evening. Tipoff is scheduled for 8:30 pm ET at the Chase Center in San Francisco, CA, with NBA TV providing the broadcast coverage.

Golden State Warriors Betting Analysis

Golden State has been the ultimate Jekyll and Hyde team this season. Get them at home and they look like a threat to repeat in the NBA Championship odds. Play them on the road, and you might run them out of the building.

The Warriors are 17-5 at home this season, which is the second best winning percentage of any Western Conference team in their own building. Their net rating is 6.2 at the Chase Center, compared to -6.4 as visitors.

Golden State’s defense is largely to blame for the discrepancy. They yield 118 points per 100 possession on the road, compared to just 107 points per 100 possessions at home. Unfortunately for Brooklyn this game is in the Warriors building, meaning Kyrie Irving and Co. could be in trouble.

As for the Warriors offense, they’re fresh off an incredible shooting performance. They buried 23 triples in Friday’s win over Cleveland, and they did so without nearly their entire starting lineup. Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins all rested on the second half of a back-to-back, but it didn’t even matter.

Jordan Poole led the 3-point barrage with 32 points, including five threes. Ty Jerome added 22 points as the Dubs bounced back from an OT loss to the Celtics the night before.

Curry and the rest of the Warriors starting line-up is expected to be back in tact for Sunday’s game. Curry has actually seen a dip in production over the last two months, averaging just 25 points per night. That’s six points less than the first two months, when he was playing like a legit NBA MVP odds contender.

Brooklyn Nets Betting Analysis

The Nets meanwhile, are fresh off their first victory since Durant went down. They started with four straight losses without their superstar, amassing a minus-34 point differential along the way.

Brooklyn got past Utah 117-106, led by 48 points from Kyrie Irving. The controversial guard poured in 21 points in the final quarter to secure the victory, shooting 70% and burying four triples along the way. He also had a season-high 11 rebounds and six assists, and another performance like that will be necessary to keep the Nets in Sunday’s game.

With Durant in the lineup, Brooklyn boasted a top-three offensive rating. Without him, they rank dead last in the league. They’ve failed to exceed 102 points in three of five outings, and have averaged just 105 points per night.

There hasn’t been a drop-off at the defensive end, as the Nets rank sixth in defensive rating. However, given the Warriors home prowess, we should expect some regression from Brooklyn in their own end on Sunday.

Nets vs Warriors Prediction

Without KD, Brooklyn is 1-4 against the spread with an average cover margin of minus-6. They’re 2-6 ATS in their last eight overall, failing to cover in four of their last six road matchups.

NBA Bottom-5 Offensive Rating – Last 5 Games

Team Rank
Brooklyn Nets 30
Indiana Pacers 29
New Orleans Pelicans 28
Phoenix Suns 27
Detroit Pistons 26

Golden State on the other hand, boast ATS splits just as severe as their win/loss numbers. They’re 14-7-1 against the spread at home, as opposed to 7-16-0 on the road.

Given this game is in Golden State and the Warriors are healthy, take them to cover against the Durant-less Nets.

Pick: Golden State Warriors -7 (-110)
