  • The Oklahoma City Thunder attempt to sweep the Los Angeles Lakers out of the postseason

The Oklahoma City Thunder are one win away from dispatching the Los Angeles Lakers in their quest to make the Western Conference Finals. Coming off a massive 131-108 blowout victory, the Thunder enter this tilt with serious momentum as heavy road favorites in the NBA odds. Meanwhile, the Lakers find themselves in a desperate spot, needing to bounce back immediately to shift the tide to stay alive.

Tip-off Monday night is at 7:30 PM PT / 10:30 PM ET at Crypto.com Arena, broadcast live on Amazon Prime Video in the United States and TSN in Canada. Let’s dive into the markers and how I am attacking this betting card along with a wager I’m intrigued with for the NBA Player Props.

Thunder vs Lakers Predictions & Best Bets

When it comes to picking a side in this Western Conference showdown, the betting trends present a fascinating tug-of-war. The Thunder are an absolute wagon right now, winning all seven postseason affairs. On the flip side, the Lakers have struggled to get up and down the court efficiently, going just 1-4 ATS over their last five games and posting a dismal 1-5 outright record against top-10 scoring defenses over their last six contests.

Despite these recent woes, Crypto.com Arena has been a fortress for home bettors. The Lakers boast an elite 13-4 ATS record on their home floor over their last 17 games. Given the massive 10.5-point cushion on the board, backing Los Angeles to cover the spread is my play.

Oklahoma City might secure the outright win, but I expect LeBron James to slow the game into a halfcourt grind and keep this within single digits. The NBA Championship odds has OKC the top choice at -160, while the Lakers are the longest shot at +60000.

My Pick: Lakers +10.5 (-105 at DraftKings)

Looking at the player prop markets, I am immediately drawn to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. He is the engine of an offense that loves to push the tempo. I locked in the best-available -118 odds for him to eclipse 28.5 points. The Lakers struggle to contain elite perimeter isolation, and Gilgeous-Alexander is primed to have a bigger point contribution, despite not recording 29+ points in all three games of this series.

My Best Player Prop Bet: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Over 28.5 Points (-118 at bet365)

OKC vs LAL Betting Splits

In the NBA public betting splits moneyline market, the public leans heavily toward the favored Thunder, holding 77% of the outright betting tickets. However, a staggering 86% of the total moneyline handle is backing the Lakers to win outright. In the total market, there is no debate: 97% of the cash expects a shootout, backing the Over.

Thunder vs Lakers Injury Report

Player NamePositionInjuryStatus
Luka DončićPGHamstringOut
Jalen WilliamsSGHamstringOut
Thomas SorberCKneeOut for Season

Looking at the NBA starting lineups, Luka Dončić remains sidelined, stripping the home team of elite shot creation. Without him, Los Angeles is desperately searching for halfcourt production. On the flip side, losing Jalen Williams is a tough blow for Oklahoma City, but it reinforces the massive volume coming Gilgeous-Alexander’s way, making his point prop an essential play on my card.

Looking at the moneyline market, the -550 tag on the Thunder carries an implied probability of 83.3%, while the +400 comeback on the Lakers sits at 21.1%.

If you are looking to place a wager on the outright winner, a $100 bet on the Thunder moneyline would pay out a total of $120 (a meager $20 profit). Meanwhile, tossing that same $100 onto the Lakers to pull off the massive upset yields a $475 total payout ($375 profit).
