  • The LA Lakers are 7.5-point home favorites over the Golden State Warriors tonight
  • The Lakers are 2-0 versus the Warriors this season

The Golden State Warriors (25-25, 10-12 away) face the LA Lakers (29-19, 16-6 home) tonight in a game that would look a lot different if it were played next week. Both these teams made huge splashes at the deadline, but neither Jimmy Butler or Luka Doncic will be suiting up. Golden State comes in extremely shorthanded and is on the second leg of a back-to-back. That has online sportsbooks bullish on LA in the NBA odds, pegging them as big chalk. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:10 pm PT/10:10 pm ET at the crypto.com arena, in Los Angeles, CA, with TNT providing the broadcast coverage.

Warriors vs Lakers Injuries

Injury-wise, the bill of health favors LA. Yes, Doncic has yet to play for his new team due to a calf injury, but the rest of the roster is in tact. Golden State meanwhile, is a different story. Butler won’t make his debut tonight as the trade still needs to be finalized. Moses Moody, the next small forward on the depth chart is dealing with a back issue, while reserve forward Trayce Jackson-Davis has a knee injury.

Power Forward Jonathan Kuminga hasn’t played in a week due to an ankle injury, and the team just traded away Andrew Wiggins. The former number one pick was the team’s second leading scorer, and was third in defensive win shares.

Golden State Warriors vs LA Lakers Predictions

  • LA Lakers -7.5 (-112) at Caesars

Not only did Golden State ship out Wiggins, they also gave away Kyler Anderson and Dennis Schroder. Those three accounted for 35 points a night, and it’s going to be tough for the Warriors to make up that production given Steph Curry’s struggles.

Curry is on pace for his lowest point total since the 2012-13 season. He’s shooting below 40% from three for only the second time in his career, and he just logged 35 minutes Wednesday in a loss to Utah. Golden State is below .500 over its last 15 games, with the ninth worst Net rating during that stretch.

LA on the other hand, is playing its best basketball of the season. They’re 8-2 over their last 10, with the league’s third best Net rating, and seventh best offensive mark during that stretch. They just blew out a talented Clippers team, and have seen their NBA Championship odds shortened significantly since acquiring Doncic.

Sure, Anthony Davis is gone, but he’d been hurt recently anyways. LeBron James is defying father time, recording at least 8 assists in 13 of 14 games, while scoring 25+ points in three of four outings.

The icing on the cake is how well they play at home. The Lakers are tied for the sixth most home wins, and the fourth fewest losses. They’re 13-9 against the spread at the crypto.com arena, covering in three of their last four.

NBA player props from DraftKings Sportsbook on February 6.

Switching over to the NBA props market, where we’re targeting over 13.5 points for Brandon Podziemski. The 21-year-old is in line for the biggest minutes bump due to the departure of Wiggins and Schroder, and is one of only a few legit scorers Golden State can throw out there tonight.

He saw a major increase in usage last night, and we expect that to continue. Podziemski played a season-high 40 minutes, hoisting up 18 shots. We can’t project another 40 minute effort tonight, but low 30s are in play, with double-figure shot attempts on deck.

Pick: Brandon Podziemski Over 13.5 Points (-120)
