  • The Warriors used a huge first half to take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven on Sunday night

Experience won out on Sunday night as Steph Curry, Jimmy Butler, and the Golden State Warriors (48-34, 24-17 away, 41-39-3) took a 1-0 lead on the Houston Rockets (52-30, 29-12 home, 43-38-1) with a 95-85 road victory. The Rockets are sure to be in desperation mode in Game 2 as they can ill-afford to head back to the Bay Area down 0-2.

Game 2 will take place at the Toyota Center in Houston on Wednesday, April 23, at 8:40 pm CT/9:40 pm ET, and the Warriors vs Rockets odds are a straight pick’em with -110 odds each way on the moneyline.

The Game 2 spread basically mirrors Game 1, when the Rockets were 1.5-point favorites and -105 on the moneyline at most sportsbooks. The one area where there has been significant change is the game total. The Game 2 over/under has opened at 208.5, which is a full five points lower than the Game 1 O/U.

The teams combined for just 180 points on Sunday night. Steph Curry had a game-high 31 points while Alperen Sengun had a team-high 26 for the Rockets. “Playoff” Jimmy Butler added 23 and was the only other player over the 20-point plateau.

Warriors vs Rockets Series Price

TeamOdds to Win Series
Warriors-400
Rockets+320

Golden State opened as a -250 favorite to advance last Sunday but the series price had narrowed considerably by the time tip-off for Game 1 rolled around; the Dubs were just -180 chalk before their Game 1 victory. But after wresting home-court advantage away in the series opener, Curry and company are now -400 to move onto the second round of the NBA playoff bracket. The Rockets dropped to +320.

The winner of Golden State/Houston will face the winner of the Minnesota Timberwolves/Los Angeles Lakers series. The T-Wolves also won Game 1 on the road with a decisive 117-95 victory.

Golden State’s NBA Championship odds improved from +1600 to +1500 after winning Game 1 in Houston. The Rockets faded from +6500 to +10000.
