What a monumental upset it would be if the Campbell Fighting Camels (16-17, 18-13 ATS) could complete their fairy tale week with a win over the Big South’s top seed, the UNC Asheville Bulldogs (26-7, 16-14-1 ATS), when they meet in the conference title game on Sunday, March 5th at the Bojangles’ Coliseum. Read on for a Campbell vs UNC Asheville analysis.

Tipoff goes at 1:00 pm ET for the championship game and can be seen on ESPN 2. Campbell finished the regular season 7th in league play, narrowly missing out on a first-round bye. However, three wins in four days including two over higher-ranked teams, have the Fighting Camels dreaming big.

For the third straight contest, Campbell will be the underdogs, but that hasn’t deterred them at all recently. When being pegged as the inferior squad, the Fighting Camels have covered the spread in five straight. Below, you can find all the Campbell vs UNC Asheville odds as well as our best bet and prediction.

Campbell vs UNC Asheville Odds

Team Spread Moneyline Total
Campbell Fighting Camels +4.5 (-110) +170 O 136.5 (-110)
UNC Asheville -4.5 (-110) -200 U 136.5 (-110)

Sportsbooks seem to be a little leery of this Campbell squad following successive upsets over two of the Big South’s top teams. For this matchup, UNC Asheville are laying just 4.5-point favorites.

Prior to the conference tournament beginning, it would’ve been almost impossible to find a March Madness bracket that had Campbell in it, but now an NCAA tournament appearance for this first time since 1992 is just one win away.

With moneyline odds of +170, the Fighting Camels have an implied win probability of 37.04% to claim only their second Big South title, while the chalk Bulldogs have a 66.67% probability to emerge victorious in this contest.

Will Glass Slipper Fit For Campbell Fighting Camels?

Before their first conference tourney game on Wednesday, the Fighting Camels had +1400 odds to win it all, the 6th best odds of all Big South teams. Well, those odds have now shrunk to just +170 after an incredible run for this steady squad.

They are just one victory away from cutting down the nets in Charlotte. After stunning Longwood in an 81-68 victory on Friday, the Fighting Camels went down to the wire with Radford in the semifinals on Saturday. A clutch Anthony Dell’Orso floater with 1.5 seconds lifted Campbell to a 72-71 win.

A couple of trends have become very evident when betting on this Campbell squad of late. First off, although they are just 6-3 straight up over their last nine, they have covered the spread in eight of those contests and are a perfect 5-for-5 as underdogs ATS during that span.

Secondly, they have gone above the over/under total in six consecutive games and eight of nine overall. Furthermore, the over is 5-0 in their last five neutral site games. Simply put, they’ve been an incredible moneymaker on the over and ATS in the college basketball odds over the last month.

Will Favored UNC Asheville Bulldogs Avoid Big South Upset?

One thing is for sure, the Bulldogs won’t be taking the Fighting Camels for granted. They got a scare of their own in the tournament semifinals, narrowly avoiding defeat to the USC Upstate Spartans. The Bulldogs emerged with a 66-62 win, but have failed to cover in each of their Big South tourney games so far.

Having said that, UNC Asheville are on an incredible roll having now won 17 of 18 games in the new year. Included in that run were two victories over Campbell, including a 13-point road win the last time they met.

For the Fighting Camels to have a chance, they’ll have to find a way to contain the Bulldogs’ duo of Drew Pember and Tajion Jones. In particular, Pember, who was the leading scorer in the conference this year, has been on a mission to get his team on the board in the odds to win March Madness.

The 6’10 forward has put up a combined 60 points in his first two Big South tournament contests and has been a load to handle in the post. He has gone to the charity stripe an incredible 35 times in his last two games and is making 88.6% of his free throws.

Campbell vs UNC Asheville Pick and Prediction

Campbell has been a great story and teams like the Fighting Camels are the reason we get so excited for college basketball in March. Nevertheless, our prediction is that this romantic tale comes to an abrupt end against the best team in the Big South.

The Bulldogs are well aware of what’s on the line and don’t need much more motivation than a spot in the NCAA tournament, which awaits the winner. In their last 33 games following an ATS loss, the Bulldogs have covered 24 times, a 72.7% cover rate. Our pick is to ride it out with the tourney favorite.

Pick: UNC Asheville Bulldogs -4.5 (-110)
