Baker Mayfield Given +150 Odds to Lead NFL in Interceptions, Over/Under Set at 17.5 INTs in 2019
- Browns QB Baker Mayfield leads the NFL with eleven interceptions already
- Sportsbooks have posted two interesting prop bets centered around Mayfield’s INT’s
- Will Mayfield lead the league in interceptions or is the smart money on someone else?
Through six games of the NFL season the hype train that followed the Browns entering the year has veered far off track and part of the blame is quarterback Baker Mayfield’s penchant for tossing passes towards the other team – he leads the NFL with eleven picks.
If you were to have bet that the Browns signal caller would lead the campaign with the most interceptions before the year started, you’d be sitting pretty right now. One sportsbook had him listed with +1600 odds to throw the most INT’s, with seven quarterbacks sporting lower odds than him.
Will he lead the league in picks when the year is up? Just how many times will he pass to the other team? You can now bet on that at online sportsbooks.

Mayfield Throwing Interceptions at Alarming Rate
In 14 games during his rookie season Baker Mayfield threw exactly one interception per game on average.
This year, in eight fewer contests, he has thrown just three picks less than the 14 he had in his debut season.

Should he keep up his current pace, the 2018 first overall draft pick will have thrown a ridiculous 29 interceptions, which seems unfathomable. While some of the transgressions have not been his fault (his receivers need to help him out and stop dropping passes) Mayfield needs to stop forcing the issue as well in order to avoid the dubious record.

Jameis Winston Will Lead League in Interceptions
The closest QB to Mayfield in the race for picks is none other than Jameis Winston, who has had double digit INT’s in all five of his NFL seasons. He’s coming off a game in which he threw 5 interceptions against Carolina and he’s consistently shown over the course of his career a penchant for gift wrapping passes to the other team.
Jameis Winston is the first player to commit 6 turnovers in a game since Ryan Fitzpatrick threw 6 interceptions in Week 3 of 2016 vs the Chiefs.

Winston has shown time and time again the inability to avoid turnovers, resulting in being inside the top-five in interceptions in three of his four full seasons.
Mayfield also has quite a few cupcake teams coming up following a tilt with the Patriots (still two games vs. the Bengals and Steelers and Cleveland also plays the Dolphins and Cardinals this year.)
Pick: No, Mayfield Doesn’t Lead League in Interceptions (-200)

Mayfield Will Go Way Over the Total
This bet seems like an absolute no brainer and almost feels too good to be true.
A QB that’s thrown eleven picks in six games just has to throw seven more in the remaining ten contests to win the bet for you? You absolutely must bet on Mayfield hitting the over.
It’s not as if they have a young QB waiting in the wings that they would turn to over Mayfield (after all, Mayfield is that young QB they’re all in on.)
Baker Mayfield and Russell Wilson have the same number of career games with 3+ interceptions.
Wilson's been playing since 2012. Mayfield made his first start a year and a week ago.

Don’t overthink this one, especially with the betting line set at -120 for both the over and under.
It would have to take a catastrophic sequence of events for the Browns to bench Mayfield in favor for Garrett Gilbert. Even if they did, it would probably be the result of Baker throwing enough INT’s to win you the bet.
Pick: Over 17.5 Interceptions (-120)
