LA was only getting 3.5 points in that matchup on the road, which makes Sunday’s point spread simply too high. Yes, the Chiefs have won 13 straight road divisional games with Patrick Mahomes under center, but he boasts just a 28-31-1 career ATS mark when favored by 3.5 points or more.

Herbert meanwhile, is 4-1 against the spread in his career against the Chiefs and 2-3 straight up. The three losses were by 3, 3 and 6 points, with the latter outcome decided in overtime.

There’s no need to go too deep into the analysis on this one. The Chiefs have played nine different quarterbacks this season, and only one, Malik Willis, has failed to throw at least two touchdown passes. Willis threw the ball just 16 times in that matchup, completing only five passes.

Herbert meanwhile, has at least 2 TD passes in four of five career meetings against KC, throwing three or more three separate times.

Herbert has failed to clear 254.5 passing yards in back-to-back outings, but that’s largely due to the absence of his top-two receivers. Mike Williams and Keenan Allen have missed two and eight games respectively, but there’s a good chance both of them will be on the field on SNF per the Chiefs vs Chargers injury report.
