Both the Cincinnati Bengals and Dallas Cowboys had high hopes entering the season.
After the two teams clash Sunday, one of them will be staring down an 0-2 hole.
It’s a clear advantage for Cincy as they travel to AT&T Stadium, pegged as 7-point favorites when things kick off at 4:25pm ET on Sunday, September 18. The game will air live on CBS.
Dallas will begin life without Dak Prescott, who injured the thumb on his throwing hand in the Cowboys’ 19-3 Week 1 loss at home to the Buccaneers.

According to the Week 2 NFL Betting Trends, 84% of the bets placed are for the Bengals to cover the spread. An even-higher 91% of the of bets are on Cincinnati to win outright.
The total opened at a healthy 50.5, but was dropped down to the 44.5 range when Dak’s injury news was confirmed on Monday. It now sits at a slender 42 points.
With a domed enclosure, weather shouldn’t be a factor in this one, with temperatures expected to be around 93 degrees at game time.
Bengals Betting Outlook
It was hard to gauge how the Bengals played in the 23-20 OT loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 1. They were too busy shooting themselves in the foot.
Joe Burrow did throw for 338 yards and a pair of TD’s, but he also was intercepted four times. None was worse than his first pass of the game, picked and returned for a score by Minkah Fitzpatrick. Burrow also lost a fumble, making it a 5-turnover afternoon.

Cincinnati’s rebuilt offensive line looked much like the struggling unit a year ago, as Burrow was sacked seven times and took 11 QB hits.
And yet, the Bengals had every chance to win this game. Burrow connected with Ja’Marr Chase for a TD with just a few ticks remaining, but Evan McPherson’s extra point was blocked.
In overtime, McPherson shanked a 29-yard chip shot, with both misses the byproduct of a poor snap. Regular long snapper Clark Harris was injured, and third-string TE Mitchell Wilcox struggled to get the job done.

Cincy’s offense outgained Pittsburgh 432 yards to 267. Chase hauled in 10 balls for 129 yards and the game-tying score, while Joe Mixon piled up 145 yards rushing and receiving.
Their defense was stout too, holding the Steelers to just 75 yards rushing, and holding QB Mitch Trubisky to 194 yards passing.
Cowboys Betting Outlook
One minute, the Cowboys were trying to find a way to get their offense moving against a stiff Tampa Bay defense. The next, Dallas is trying to find a way to save their season behind backup Cooper Rush.

This will be Rush’s second career start. Last year, stepping in for an injured Prescott, he went 24-for-40 for 325 yards and two TD’s with one interception in a 20-16 win over the Minnesota Vikings.
Things have changed somewhat since then. Amari Cooper and Cedrick Wilson both caught TD passes that day, and they’re no longer with the team. CeeDee Lamb is the lone legit wideout in the mix, as Michael Gallup works his way back from an ACL injury.

Dallas is also thin on that once-dominant offensive line. Left tackle Tyron Smith (knee) has been out since the preseason, while guard Conor McGovern suffered a high ankle sprain and is also out.
The Cowboys were struggling even before Dak’s fourth-quarter injury, failing to make their way inside the Tampa 30 all game, while putting up just 244 yards on 3.8 yards per play.

They’ll probably try to find a little more balance, as they ran the ball just 24 times against the Bucs (for a paltry 78 yards), opting to throw 41 times.

Bengals vs Cowboys Pick
This has all the makings of a Bengals blowout. They were stunned in their home opener, Burrow played perhaps the worst game of his young career and Cincinnati essentially gave away a win.
Dallas’ only way to keep things competitive is for Micah Parsons to lead a dominant defensive effort. Dallas was the takeaway leader a year ago, piling up 34 for a league-best +14 differential. If they can make an impact, perhaps it can be close.

The Bengals are 5-0 against the spread in their last five road games, while the Cowboys are just 1-4 ATS in the last five at Jerry’s World.
Look for Cincy to get back on track in a big way against a floundering Dallas side, missing their most important player.
The Pick: Bengals -7 (-118); 1.5 units to win 1.38 units
