Two NFC East teams bound for the NFL playoffs meet when the division champion Dallas Cowboys face the Philadelphia Eagles at 8:15 pm ET at Lincoln Financial Field in the regular-season finale for both.

Neither team can significantly change its playoff position, so it remains in question how much action the starters will see. Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy says his regulars will at least start the game. Eagles coach Nick Sirianni has been noncommittal.

The Cowboys (11-5) had their four-game winning streak end last week by losing to the Arizona Cardinals 25-22 at home. The Eagles (9-7) have won four games in a row but are underdogs in this matchup, which will be televised by ESPN.

The line has gone up 2.5 points after the Cowboys opened as two-point favorites. An indication the sharp money is going on Dallas is the Cowboys are drawing 81% of the handle but 56% of the bets.

It should be a clear and chilly night in Philadelphia. The weather forecast calls for a low of 22 degrees with no wind.

Cowboys vs Eagles Recent History

The Cowboys rolled to a 41-21 victory over the Eagles in Week 3 at home as Ezekiel Elliott rushed for 95 yards and two touchdowns and Dak Prescott passed for 238 yards and three scores. The Eagles’ Jalen Hurts finished with 326 yards passing and two TDs but was intercepted twice.

Cowboys Offense vs Eagles Defense

Prescott says he wants to play as much as possible to stay in rhythm for the playoffs. Prescott is 24-6 against the NFC East in his career and the only loss in the last 16 games was to the Eagles in 2019.

The Cowboys may look to rest Elliott as he has been bothered by a knee injury for much of the season. Elliott was held to 16 yards, the second-lowest total of his six-year career, on nine carries last week by the Cardinals.

Tony Pollard will likely get more carries if Elliott is rested. When Elliott sat out a game late last season against the San Francisco 49ers, Pollard had 132 scrimmage yards and two rushing touchdowns as the feature back in a victory over the San Francisco 49ers.

Elliott (915) and Pollard (719) have a chance to become the first two Cowboys running backs to rush for at 750 yards in the same season since Calvin Hill and Walt Garrison in 1972.

Eagles Offense vs Cowboys Defense

Hurts has been slowed by an ankle injury he sustained in Week 12 against the New York Giants that forced him to miss a game. Thus, it stands to reason he might not play Saturday.

If the Eagles do indeed decide to sit Hurts, then Gardner Minshew will likely start at quarterback. Minshew led the Eagles to a 33-18 victory over the New York Jets in Week 13 when he completed 20 of 25 passes for 242 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions.

Though the Cowboys are just 24th in the NFL in pass defense, they could give Minshew trouble. Dallas has a league-high 33 takeaways and cornerback Trevon Diggs’ 11 interceptions has tied the franchise single-season record.

Cowboys vs Eagles Injury Report

Star rookie linebacker Micah Parsons was on the COVID-19/reserve list for the Cowboys as of Friday morning along with OT Tyron Smith, CB Anthony Brown and LB Francis Bernard. Parsons needs two sacks to break Jevon Kearse’s rookie record of 14.5 for the Tennessee Titans in 1999.

On the COVID-19/reserve list for the Eagles: tight ends Dallas Goedert and Jack Stoll, linebackers Genard Avery and Alex Singleton, defensive tackle Fletcher Cox, safeties Marcus Epps and Rodney McLeod, guard Nate Herbig, center Jason Kelce, running backs Jordan Howard and Boston Scott and cornerback Avonte Maddox.

For the Cowboys, Pollard (foot), Diggs (illness), safety Jayron Kearse and safety Donovan Wilson (illness) are questionable.

Eagles running back Miles Sanders (hand) is out and guard Landon Dickerson (thumb) is questionable.

Cowboys vs Eagles Prediction

There is a lot of uncertainty with players on the COVID-19/reserve and questions about how each coach will distribute snaps. However, the Eagles have won each of the last two meetings with the Cowboys in Philadelphia and their fans take it to another level when Dallas visits The Linc.
