- The Philadelphia Eagles are just 1-2 after their first three games this season.
- The Eagles have been outscored 50-23 in first halves this season.
- Four of the Eagles next five games are on the road.
After a 1-2 start, the Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl odds have tumbled. They were at +1600 entering the week but after a disappointing home loss to the Detroit Lions, they’re now at +2000.
On a short week prior to a trip to Green Bay to play the undefeated Packers on Thursday night, is this the time to invest in the Eagles, or should bettors pass?

Eagles Lose To Lions
It was another shaky effort for the Eagles on Sunday as they fell 27-24 to the Lions. While it’s true that the Lions might actually be a decent team – they’re now 2-0-1 – the Eagles are supposed to win these types of games at home.
The issue for the Eagles is that they had lackluster first half, which has been a consistent theme all season long. They were trailing 20-10 on Sunday and have been outscored 50-23 at halftime this season. Diving deeper into the numbers, there were a lot of self-inflicted wounds for Philadelphia.

The Eagles had two turnovers on the day, and allowed the Lions to score the first kickoff return for a touchdown this season.
Philadelphia had more first downs, more time of possession and almost 100 more total yards, but those mistakes proved to be the equalizer.
Eagles Remain Shorthanded on Thursday
While many will bet on the Eagles to bounce back this week, you have to remember that this is a team that’s really banged up right now. Alshon Jeffery and DeSean Jackson missed Sunday’s action, and lost cornerback Ronald Darby and left tackle Andre Dillard in Sunday’s game.

Sure, the Eagles might be one of the league’s better teams when healthy but they’re not right now. Their roster has been severely depleted the last couple of weeks and it’s unclear when or if they can get back to full strength.
Tough Schedule Upcoming
One of the reasons to hold off on betting the Eagles is because of the difficulty of their schedule coming up. Thursday’s game is at Green Bay, who is 3-0 so far this season. That’s the start of a stretch where four of their next five games are on the road.

Although the Eagles should have a win when the New York Jets visit in Week 5, they’ll then go on the road to Minnesota, Dallas and Buffalo in consecutive weeks. Those teams are a combined 8-1.
After that, it’s home games with Chicago, New England and Seattle, three teams who made the playoffs last season.
At this point, this team is too short-handed and not trustworthy in their upcoming games. That being the case, I’ll pass on any and all of their futures for the time being. They don’t look like a team who is capable of winning the Super Bowl right now.
