- Oddsmakers are at a loss to designate a favorite between the Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Jets in the Week 16 TNF game
- This game is currently set as a pick’em in the Jaguars vs Jets odds
- Jacksonville is 4-2 straight up over the past six games, while New York is 1-4 SU in the last five games
As the New York Jets (7-7, 8-6 ATS) prepare to play host to the Jacksonville Jaguars (6-8, 6-8 ATS) in the Week 16 TNF game, these appear to be two teams heading in opposite directions.
The Jets have lost three in a row, four of five games and five of seven. Meanwhile, Jacksonville has won two straight, three of four and four of six.
Still, oddsmakers aren’t sold on the Jaguars. Despite Jacksonville’s recent run of success, this game is being set as a pick’em in the Jaguars vs Jets odds. The Jaguars are 1-4 straight up and against the spread in their past five road games.

Jaguars vs Jets NFL Betting Trends
The oddsmakers may be sitting on the fence, but the people are with the visiting Jaguars. They are backing Jacksonville across the board in both point spread and moneyline splits. In the NFL public betting trends, Jacksonville is drawing 68% of handle and 73% of bets. As far as the moneyline splits are going, 58% of handle and 63% bets are also on the Jaguars.
The public split on the total of 36 points isn’t as certain, though. The over is garnering 69% of bets. However, the under is dividing the handle right down the middle at 50-50. Each of Jacksonville’s last four games hit on the over. The Jets are 2-7 on the total over the past nine games.
The Jaguars are suddenly the +130 second betting choice to win the AFC South title in the NFL Divisional odds. As far as the Jets are concerned, their recent run of poor form has seen their betting line lengthen to +360 in the NFL playoff odds.
Jaguars Legit AFC South Contenders
Has Tennessee backed up to Jacksonville, or are the Jaguars catching the Titans? It doesn’t matter. Today, Jacksonville is sitting one game off the pace for the AFC South lead.
Jacksonville is certainly a resilient bunch. The Jaguars have come back to win from double-digit deficits three times in the last six games. Jacksonville’s last three wins came against Dallas, Tennessee and Baltimore, all of them currently situated as playoff teams. This is the first time in seven games that the Jags aren’t betting underdogs.
Jets Just Can’t Score
It’s going to be 1 vs 2 as starting QBs. Jacksonville QB Trevor Lawrence was the first player chosen in the 2021 NFL Draft. Zach Wilson, the #2 pick will be under center for the Jets, replacing the injured Mike White.
#Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence (@Trevorlawrencee) finds the comparisons to #Jets QB Zach Wilson (@ZachWilson) ‘annoying’, ‘I’m not playing against Zach, I’m playing against the NYJ defense’ + ‘that’s not how the game should be played’ 😳: 🎥 @Jaguars #TakeFlight #DUUUVAL #TNF pic.twitter.com/rOJVhUXD7r

In Wilson’s last five starts, the Jets are averaging 14.6 points per game. New York is 2-3 SU in those games.
White Out Again for New York
The Jets will be missing QB White for the second successive game. He’s out with a rib injury.
Five starters are questionable for the Jets. WR Corey Davis (concussion), LT Duane Brown (shoulder) and RT George Fant (knee) are question marks on offense. RDT Quinnen Williams (calf) and FS Lamarcus Joyner (hip) are defensive questionables.
For the Jaguars, SLB Travon Walker (ankle), the first pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, is out. Also out is LDE Folorunso Fatukasi (ankle).
QB Lawrence (toe), RG Brand Scherff (abdomen), RT Jawaan Taylor (hamstring), and LILB Chad Muma (ankle) are questionable.
Jaguars vs Jets Prediction
The Jets are just 3-4 SU at home this season, but 2-1 SU over the last three games at MetLife Stadium. They’ve won four in a row at home against the Jaguars, though. Wilson also beat Lawrence 26-21 last season in Week 16.
Robert Saleh can tie Ron Middleton w/ a 1-0 record vs #Jaguars in their HC careers if #Jets get a win on #TNF.
Last year Saleh couldn't coach in game due to COVID protocols, so Middleton stepped up & delivered a 26-21 victory. #TakeFlight #DUUUVALpic.twitter.com/fA1bf4drqJ

Overall, Jacksonville is 2-5 SU in the last seven against New York, but 9-4 in picks against the spread in the past 13 games. The road isn’t a favorable place for Jacksonville, though. The Jags are 2-18 SU in their last 20 away games. If they want to be taken seriously as a playoff team, that situation must change.
- Pick: Jacksonville Jaguars ML (-110)
- TNF record (0-0 ML, 6-8 ATS, 1-0 O/U)
