  • Odds on the NY Jets trading Jamal Adams heavily favor “No” at -600
  • If the All-Pro safety is moved, the Baltimore Ravens are +250 favorites to be his new team
  • Is Adams’ time in East Rutherford at an end?

Jamal Adams is staying with the New York Jets. No wait, he’s heading to the Baltimore Ravens.

What does the future hold for Jets’ All-Pro safety Adams? It depends on which prop wager you opt to play.

A pair of props are out relating to the future of Adams. The first asks whether or not Adams will be trade by the Jets. In this instance, “No” is the -600 favorite.

Another prop lists potential landing spots for Adams if the Jets opt to move on from him. The Baltimore Ravens, who posted an NFL-best 14-2 record in 2019, are the +250 favorites.

The Dallas Cowboys, recently listed as the most-likely new destination for Adams in another prop bet released late last month, are now the +400 third-favorite.

Odds NY Jets Trade Jamal Adams Before Week 1 of 2020 Season

Outcome Odds
No -600
Yes +350

Odds taken June 22nd.

Negotiations between the Jets and Adams on a long-term contract extension are currently at a standstill.  Adams has two years left on his current contract.

Adams will earn $3.5 million this season and $9.9 million for the 2021 campaign. He signed a fully-guaranteed four-year, $22.25 million pact after the Jets selected him sixth overall in the 2017 NFL Draft.

The Jets later opted to pick up the fifth-year option. The team could also opt to use the franchise tag on him in 2022.

What that all means is Adams is left with little leverage to push the Jets to negotiate sooner rather than later. His only action, therefore, is forcing management’s hand by demanding a trade.

Jets GM Joe Douglas is holding almost all the cards in this hand. He doesn’t need to hurry to move Adams. If that proves to be the ultimate decision that the Jets make, they’ll wait to get their price.

Pick: No (-600)

Adams Does Want Dallas

It’s clear that Adams would prefer to be moved to the Cowboys. He’s from the Dallas area, born and raised in Big D. Adams was even caught on video telling a fan that he was trying to make a trade to the Cowboys happen.

However, before he opts to push that agenda too far, Adams might want to consult with Earl Thomas.

When Ravens safety Thomas sought a trade from the Seattle Seahawks to Dallas, he went as far as to run into the Cowboys’ locker room and tell them to come get him.

This so angered Seattle GM John Schneider that he refused to move Thomas to Dallas.

Ravens Would Be A Fit

The reality is that this scenario isn’t going to end well.

If the strong safety were to go to Baltimore, oddly enough he’d find himself lining up next to free safety Thomas. The two could lament about how much they’d rather be Cowboys.

Jamal Adams’ Team for Game 1 of 2020 Season

Team Odds
Baltimore Ravens +250
Tampa Bay Buccaneers +300
Dallas Cowboys +400
Seattle Seahawks +500
Philadelphia Eagles +500
Houston Texans +700
Kansas City Chiefs +800
San Francisco 49ers +1000

The second prop, as mentioned, focuses on Adams’ next team. Note that bets are graded “no action” if Adams remains with the Jets.

Coincidentally, the Seahawks are considered players for Adams. But they’re solid at safety.

Trading for Tom Brady, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are clearly in win-now mode. Tampa Bay’s defensive coordinator is former Jets head coach Todd Bowles.

If Adams is moved, the Bucs make as much sense as any fit.

Pick: Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+300)
