NFL bettors are in for a treat when the New York Jets and Indianapolis Colts kick off Week 9 from Lucas Oil Stadium Thursday night. The kickoff is set for 8:20 pm ET and the game can be seen on FOX.

The Jets are riding high after a shocking 34-31 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 8. Mike White led the way with 405 yards passing in his first NFL start. The only other player in NFL history to do that was Cam Newton back in 2011.

As for the Colts, they played their division rival, Tennessee Titans, tough but ultimately came up short losing 34-31. Carson Wentz had some truly baffling turnover-worthy plays in that one which went a long way towards them losing the game.

(Due to the Jet’ instability at the wide receiver position, their receivers do not have many props available at the time of publishing.)

Odds taken Nov. 3 from FanDuel

The current odds are showing the Colts favored by 10.5 points which will likely be where this one closes. The total has found a home at 45.5 after spending the week above 46. Just like every other NFL game, there are plenty of player props to consider.

Ty Johnson Can Ball

Early in the season, people thought Ty Johnson might be a decent speculative add in fantasy football. Those thoughts have since fallen by the wayside with the emergence of Michael Carter. Still, Johnson is getting snaps although minimal but enough to produce something.

One great way to stay in the mix is to talk up the new quarterback whenever you get a chance.

Johnson is only playing 30ish-percent of the snaps over the last couple of weeks. Michael Carter has earned the lion’s share of the running back work and he deserves it. But there is still an area where Johnson’s limited snaps have not hurt his production.

Over the past two weeks with Mike “f-ing” White (no cursing) at quarterback, Johnson has been targeted 13 times in the passing game. He’s turned those targets into 11 receptions for 136 yards. Even better, he’s gone over 65 receiving yards in each game.

The Colts haven’t allowed many receptions to the running back position this season but that could change Thursday night. They should lead the game as they are 10-point favorites so that will entice the Jets to throw more. When they do, we should see White target his running backs as he’s done in each of the last two weeks. That should lead to Johnson going over 21.5 receiving yards.

  • The Pick: Ty Johnson Over 21.5 Receiving Yards (-115) – Wager 1.14 unit to win 1 unit
  • SBD 2021 NFL Player Props Record: 12-15, -2.18 Units

Johnson Can Score Too

One of my favorite things to do is bet an anytime touchdown prop. Just pick a guy who you think will score and throw a bet on it. How hard is that? My guy for this week is none other than the guy we just talked about, Ty Johnson.

Whether through the air or on the ground, Johnson can find pay dirt.

At +310, this feels like a good price to buy-in. The Colts aren’t getting crushed by the running back position in terms of touchdowns but neither were the Bengals and Johnson put one in against them last week. If and when the Jets get into the red zone, Johnson is a threat to score on the ground or through the air which makes this a play at this inflated number.

  • Pick: Ty Johnson Anytime TD Scorer (+310) – Wager 0.10 units to win 0.31 units
  • SBD 2021 Touchdown Scorer prop record: 12-16, +0.035 units
