Could it be one and done for Adam Gase in New York?

The first-year coach of the Jets has led the team to a dismal 1-6 record heading into Week 9 of the NFL season and there have been recent reports that Gase is losing the players in the locker room as well.

That has led sportsbooks to release a prop bet focusing on whether Gase will be the head coach of the Jets next season, with odds splitting at -120.

Odds Adam Gase Is the Jets Head Coach in 2020

Yes -120
No -120

Odds taken Oct. 30

Gase became the 19th head coach of the New York Jets earlier this year, but he could become the second to be fired in franchise history after just one year on the sidelines.

The most notable shortest-serving coach in franchise history is Pete Carroll, who held the position for one season in 1994. Carroll led the Jets to a 6-5 start but New York went on to lose its remaining five games that season. He was fired after finishing with a 6-10 record.

Gase Has Career Losing Record

Gase has a .436 career winning average as a head coach, spending the last two seasons with the Miami Dolphins. He has a regular-season record of 24-31 and just one playoff appearance as a head coach.

A potential firing would not be the first time Gase has been relieved of his duties as head coach. The Dolphins fired Gase after just two seasons as part of organizational changes before the Jets hired him.

With the Jets continuing to make the same mistakes on the field, ESPN reported that Gase is losing the players in the locker-room.

“I’m frustrated,” safety Jamal Adams said. “I just want to win.”

One of the many issues plaguing the Jets this season is lack of scoring.

The Jets’ only win of the season came in Week 5 against the Dallas Cowboys. Every other week, it’s been ugly for the club, who rank dead last in offensive yards per game average this season.

Jets Are Second Last In PTS/G This Season

New York’s 11.1 points per game average is second last in the NFL, with the Dolphins scoring .1 fewer points on average.

The Jets are only slightly better defensively, giving up 26.4 points against per game, which is the 8th most in the NFL this season.

How much time will Gase get before the Jets are forced to make a decision regarding the head coaching position? Judging by previous terms in New York, the team generally gives coaches at least two seasons.

However, the Jets took a chance on Gase that hasn’t panned out to this point — and likely won’t the rest of the way.

If Gase is losing his players, there won’t be a future for him as head coach either.

Pick: No (-120)
