Patriots’ Odds to Win Super Bowl 54 Improve to +240 After 7-0 Start
- The New England Patriots are 7-0 following Monday’s 33-0 dismantling of the New York Jets
- Sportsbooks dropped New England’s Super Bowl 54 favorite odds from +250 to +240
- Going back to last season, the Pats have won 12 games in a row
As the outcomes of their games continue to widen, the odds of the New England Patriots going to their record-tying fourth straight Super Bowl only get shorter.
Following Monday’s 33-0 total annahilation of the woeful New York Jets, sportsbooks took another slice off the the favored Pats’ chances to play in Super Bowl 54. New England is now at +240 in the Super Bowl odds.
Super Bowl 54 Odds
Team | Odds |
---|---|
New England Patriots | +240 |
New Orleans Saints | +550 |
Green Bay Packers | +900 |
Kansas City Chiefs | +1000 |
San Francisco 49ers | +1000 |
*Odds taken on 10/22/19.
The Pats had been +250 to win Super Bowl 54 entering Monday’s game. New England opened the season with average odds of +617 to win the big game.
The Buffalo Bills (Super Bowls 35-38) are the only team in NFL history to make it to four Super Bowls in a row.
Super Bowl-Caliber Defense
The Jets were the second team to be shut out this season by the Patriots. They’ve held two other teams to under 10 points and all seven opponents to 16 points or less. The Pats have surrendered just three touchdowns all season and a paltry 6.9 points per game.
Defense through 7 games …
1985 Bears: 315.5 yards allowed/game.
2000 Ravens: 259.9 yards allowed/game.
2019 Patriots: 223.8 yards allowed/game.• Pats have held 3 of 7 opponents under 200 yards.
• Pats have held 4 of 7 offenses out of the end zone.— Albert Breer (@AlbertBreer) October 22, 2019
New England forced six turnovers in the win over the Jets, including four interceptions. The Patriots have 18 interceptions and 22 takeaways already this season.
Their point differential of plus-175 is the highest posted by a team through the first seven games of the season since 1920, the NFL’s first season of existence.
It’ll Get Harder
Let’s face it, as impressive as New England’s start to the season is, it’s not like the Patriots were facing Pittsburgh’s vaunted Steel Curtain defense or the Joe Montana-led 49ers through these first seven games.

In fact, were the Pats an NCAA team, people would be grousing about all the cupcake opponents they’d scheduled for the first seven weeks of the season.
So far this season, the Pats have played the 1-5 Jets twice, the 0-6 Miami Dolphins, the 1-6 Washington Redskins, the 2-5 New York Giants and the 2-4 Steelers. The 5-1 Bills have proven to be their only challenging opponent.
New England Patriots 2019 Seasonal Comparison
Opposition | Record | Point Differential |
---|---|---|
First Seven Games | 12-32 (.273) | -453 |
Next Six Games | 23-18 (.561) | +148 |
That situation, though, is about to change. Over their next six games, New England gets three current division leaders – the Baltimore Ravens (5-2 atop the AFC North ), The NFC East-leading Dallas Cowboys (4-3) and the 5-2 Kansas City Chiefs, frontrunners in the AFC West. And by the time KC lines up across from the Pats, Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes should be back from his dislocated patella.

There’s also the 4-3 Houston Texans, currently the #6 seed in the AFC playoffs, and two teams that were supposed to be good this season – the 3-4 Philadelphia Eagles and the 2-4 Cleveland Browns.
Will the Real Patriots Stand Up?
Even during their 16-0 campaign in 2007, the Pats were just a +159 in point differential through seven games.
We’ll find out what the Patriots are made of over the next six weeks but you already know that answer. They’re made of the right stuff.
No AFC team is stopping New England from making a return trip to the Super Bowl.

The only question left to answer is whether an NFC team like the Green Bay Packers or the 49ers can give the Pats a game in the big game.
The price on New England will keep going lower. Bet the Patriots now, before it’s not worth it.
Pick: New England (+240).
