Two of the last three NFC champions clash on MNF as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-0, 2-0 ATS) play host to the Philadelphia Eagles (2-0, 1-0-1 ATS). And both teams are coming into this game with unbeaten records.

The Buccaneers are looking to start a season 3-0 for the first time since 2005. The Eagles are seeking to keep pace in the rugged NFC East, where both the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Commanders are also coming into Week 3 with unblemished 2-0 marks on the season.

Oddsmakers have set Philadelphia as 5-point road favorites. Philadelphia is 8-0 straight up in their last eight games as an away favorite. However, they are just 3-5 against that spread over that same span.

Let’s look deeper into the Eagles vs Buccaneers odds and offer you our prediction for this NFL Week 3 matchup of NFC rivals.

Philadelphia vs Tampa Bay Betting Splits

In the NFL public betting splits, the people like the Eagles to win outright, but seem unsure about laying the five points. In moneyline splits, Philadelphia is pulling 80% of handle and 91% of bets. This series is divided evenly at 8-8 SU over the past 16 meetings.

Spread splits are just that – split. There’s 52% of handle on the favored Eagles. However, 54% of bets are liking the home underdog Buccaneers. Tampa Bay, though, is 4-13-1 ATS through the past 18 games. As far as the total of 45 points, the over is the overwhelming choice. It’s drawing 80% of handle and 91% of bets. The over has hit in Philadelphia’s last three games.

Philadelphia is the co-third betting choice in the Super Bowl odds at +750. At +400, Tampa Bay is the third betting option to win the NFC South in the NFL divisional odds.

Eagles vs Buccaneers Injury Report

Tampa Bay is showing four defensive starters with injury designations. LDE Calijah Kancey (calf) is out. NT Vita Vea (pectoral), ILB Devin White (groin) and RCB Carlton Davis III (toe) are questionable. RG Cody Mauch (back) is questionable on offense.

For the Eagles, WR Quez Watkins (hamstring) and RB Boston Scott (concussion) are out. CB Avonte Maddox (pectoral) was placed on IR.

Both Defenses Stuffing the Run

The top two run defenses in the NFL will be on the field for this game. Philadelphia is allowing a league-low 52.0 yards per game on the ground. Tampa Bay is holding enemy rushing attacks to 54.0 yards per game.

In the case of the Buccaneers defense, this is creating the old irresistible force vs immovable object debate. The Eagles are #3 in the NFL in rushing offense. Philadelphia is grinding out 178 yards per game with the ground game.

Eagles RB D’Andre Swift is third in the NFL with 178 yards rushing. Interestingly, Philadelphia’s Jalen Hurts is just sixth among NFL QBs with 72 yards gained on the ground.

Baker Cooking for Buccaneers

Replacing the GOAT at QB is never a recipe for success, so you have to be impressed with what Tampa Bay’s Baker Mayfield is cooking up so far in place of Tom Brady. He’s only 14th in the NFL in passing yards at 490, but Mayfield isn’t making the critical errors that so defined his days as QB1 in Cleveland.

Mayfield has thrown for three TDs and has yet to be picked off. He’s sixth in passer rating (104.4) and 10th in QBR (64.8). He also beat the Eagles in his only previous start against them.

Philadelphia vs Tampa Bay Prediction

Logically, the Eagles figure to win this game. Hurts is 19-1 SU in his last 20 games and 5-1 SU over his past six prime time starts.

But is Philadelphia five points better on the road better at Tampa Bay? The Eagles are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games as the away chalk of five or more points.

Eagles vs Buccaneers Picks: Buccaneers +5 (-110)
