Week 9 on the NFL calendar kicks off with what projects to be the most lopsided game of the slate. The undefeated Eagles (7-0, 3-0 away) square off with the Texans (1-5-1, 0-2-1 home) laying nearly two full touchdowns.

Philadelphia has covered in back-to-back outings and in five of seven games overall, and bettors are banking on their impressive ATS run to continue in the NFL public betting trends.

The Eagles are currently 13.5-point favorites after reaching -14 at some online sportsbooks earlier in the week. The total is up to 45.5 after opening 2.5 points lower, while the lowly Texans are getting virtually no support in the moneyline market.

Eagles vs Texans ATS Betting Splits

As of early Thursday afternoon, 74% of the spread wagers are expecting Philadelphia to win by at least two touchdowns. One of our experts in the Eagles vs Texans picks disagrees, as do some of the big-money bettors out there. Houston is drawing 42% of the ATS handle off of only 26% of the spread wagers. Typically when the percentage of money in a market is far greater than the percentage of tickets, it’s an indication of sharp action.

The trends, however, support Philly. The Eagles are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven TNF outings, while Houston is only 3-10 ATS on Thursday Night.

Also supporting Philly is the Eagles’ far superior ranking on both sides of the ball. Philly ranks top-three on both offense and defense per DVOA, while the Texans rank in the bottom two on both sides of the ball.

Houston is especially bad against the run, ranking dead last in virtually every key metric, which makes Miles Sanders an outstanding value in the Eagles vs Texans player props.

Philadelphia vs Houston Total Betting Splits

It’s surprising that the over is getting as much love as it is. Sure, Philly is expected to put up a ton of points – and they will, but there’s little chance Houston is able to punch back.

Over 45.5 is currently garnering 59% of the over/under wagers and accounting for 86% of all money wagered on the total. This is another example of big-money bettors, who typically represent sharp action, taking a clear stand.

However, allow me to throw some cold water on the prospects of a high-scoring game. The Eagles’ defense is allowing just 16.9 points per game, and have faced far superior talent than the Texans will field.

As good as Philly’s offense has been, they have been known to take their foot off the gas. The Eagles are averaging 21 points in the first half of games this season, but just 7 points in the final 30 minutes.

The under is hitting at a 59% clip in all 2022 games so far, while unders in primetime tilts are 16-9.

Philadelphia vs Houston Moneyline Betting Splits

If you’re lucky enough to still be alive in survivor pools now would be a good time to deploy Philadelphia. The Eagles are a top contender in the Super Bowl odds for a reason, while the Texans are the leader in the clubhouse to be drafting first overall next April.

To make matters worse, Houston is dealing with plenty of injuries in the Eagles vs Texans injury report. Their number two receiver Nico Collins is out, while their top-pass catcher Brandin Cooks is questionable.

87% of the moneyline handle and tickets are tied up in Philly on TNF, as bettors look to get their moneyline parlays off on the right foot with a victory.
