Nothing like an AFC North showdown to kick off your prop betting for Week 1 in the NFL.

The Pittsburgh Steelers will start life without Ben Roethlisberger, and they’ll do it as 6.5-point underdogs against the Cincinnati Bengals, the reigning AFC Champions.

It all gets underway from Cincy’s Paycor Stadium at 1 pm ET, in a game that can be seen live on CBS.

The weather is a mild 71 degrees, but there is a good chance we could see rain in the second half.

With that in mind, let’s run down the available NFL player props and a few of our favorite picks.

Odds as of September 10th at DraftKings Sportsbook

In the odds above, Joe Burrow is favored to throw for Over 1.5 TDS, while Mitchell Trubisky is favored to go Under. The highest rushing total is given to Joe Mixon ar 69.5, and the highest receiving total is Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins at 70.5.

Prop #1: Joe Mixon Rushing Yards

One of the main priorities in the Bengals’ offseason was keeping Joe Burrow upright. With upgrades along the offensive line, that may also be a help for running back Joe Mixon.

Mixon was a wrecking ball against the Steelers last year, as the Bengals swept the season series en route to the division title.

He rushed for 90 yards on 18 totes in their 24-10 Week 4 win, then ran wild in a 41-10 thrashing in Week 12, with 28 carries for 165 yards and a pair of scores. He’s gone for 79+ rush yards in four of his last five against Pittsburgh.

The Steelers’ run defense was the worst in the league last year, giving up the most total yards, and the only team that surrendered five yards per carry.

While they should improve, the work won’t happen overnight. Mixon might not crack 100, but take advantage of this relatively low mark.

  • Pick: Joe Mixon OVER 69.5 yards rushing (-115); 1 unit to win 0.87 units

Prop #2: Burrow Rush Yards and Trubisky Pass Yards

Seems counterintuitive that we’re betting on one of the premier passers in the league to hit a run mark, and a lottery washout to cross a passing mark.

Yet that’s where we are in Week 1, as oddsmakers have Joe Burrow at a paltry 5.5 total for rushing yards. He went under this total just seven times last year, and three happened in the first four weeks of the season.

He crossed this total in each game vs the Steelers, with seven yards in Week 4 and eight in Week 12. With the Steeler pass rush sure to collapse the pocket, expect Burrow to break contain for an easy win.

As for Trubisky, he’s going to have to chuck it, if the Bengals intend to stuff as many defenders in the box to shut down Najee Harris as they did a year ago. Harris was held to 63 rush yards in two games, and the Steelers threw the ball 99 times in those two games.

Both times, even the check-down heavy Roethlisberger cruised past this total, including a season-high 318 yards in Week 4.

  • Pick: Burrow OVER 5.5 yards rushing (-120); 1 unit to win 0.83 units
  • Pick: Trubisky OVER 224.5 yards passing (-115); 0.5 units to win 0.44 units

Steelers vs Bengals Touchdown Scorer Odds

We’ll wrap this up with some scoring tidbits from our friends at DraftKings.

Tyler Boyd (+165) has scored a TD in Cincy’s last three home games, while Tee Higgins (+120) has scored at least one major in three of the last four games where the Bengals were betting favorites.

On the other side of the ball, Diontae Johnson (+195) has scored a TD in three of the last four Steelers’ games.

Looking for a little more value in your Steelers vs Bengals picks? Pat Freiermuth (+235) totaled seven majors as a rook, and could be the red zone blanket Trubisky relies upon.

That’s enough to throw something on, though we’re sticking mainly vanilla here.

  • Mixon anytime touchdown scorer (-155); 1 unit to win 0.65 units
  • Freiermuth anytime touchdown scorer (+235); 0.5 units to win 1.18 units
