  • The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New Orleans Saints do battle for the first time this season in New Orleans, Louisiana at 4:25 pm ET on Sunday, October 31st
  • This is a battle between the first and second place teams in the NFC South and will go a long way in determining the winner of that division

Tom Brady will lead his Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-1) into Louisiana to try and put more distance between them and the New Orleans Saints (4-2) in the standings. Kickoff from Caesars Superdome is scheduled for 4:25 pm ET on FOX. Joe Davis will fill in for Joe Buck on the call alongside Troy Aikman.

The Buccaneers come into this one riding a four-game winning streak after embarrassing the Chicago Bears 38-3 in Week 7. Tom Brady threw four touchdowns, including his 600th, in the winning effort. Meanwhile the Saints played mother nature and the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night in Week 7 and came out victorious 13-10.

The latest odds are showing Tampa Bay as 5.5-point favorites in this game. As for the total, points are expected with the total sitting at 48.5. As always, there are plenty of player props to consider and that is what we will talk about here.

Alvin Kamara Might Be a Wide Receiver

Alvin Kamara is one of the most electric players in the NFL today. Give him an inch and he will take a mile. He’s a threat on the ground as well as through the air but lately he’s been more of a “through the air” guy.

When you’re catching eight passes for 109 yards in the first half, why not?

Over the last two weeks, Alvin Kamara has seen a noticeable uptick in targets. He’s always been a problem for opponents catching passes out of the backfield but lately it’s been accentuated. In each of the last two weeks Kamara has seen at least eight targets.

While that’s a good thing for the Saints and Kamara’s fantasy owners, it’s not great for his rushing production. Last week he barely broke 50 yards and the week before he only recorded 71 thanks to a 23-yard scamper. To make matters worse, his opponent this week isn’t exactly who running backs want to see on their schedule.

Only one team in the NFL has given up fewer rushing yards to running backs than the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this season. On top of that, only two teams are better on a rushing yards per carry basis. Given the game script, affinity for catching balls out of the backfield, acquisition of Mark Ingram and defensive matchup, this seems like a good week to go under on Kamara’s rushing yards.

  • The Pick: Alvin Kamara Under 62.5 rushing yards (-110) wager 0.11 units to win 0.1 unit
  • SBR 2021 NFL Player Props Record: 8-12, -2.98 Units

Who Scores?

This one is going to be the best game on the slate and in the 4:25pm ET time slot so obviously a touchdown scorer prop is in order. I am not sure about the running backs getting into the end zone this week as both run defense are stout. If we pivot to pass catchers, Mike Evans will have to be on the short list.

We know for a fact that he will be ready to fight on Sunday.

Evans is a touchdown guy through and through. He caught three last week against the hapless Chicago Bears and two in a game against the Miami Dolphins in Week 5. With Antonio Brown out, there’s one less mouth to feed which is good. Even if he isn’t, Evans is always a threat to score and he’s plus money this week.

  • Pick: Mike Evans – Anytime Touchdown Scorer (+110) – Wager 0.1 unit to win 0.11 units
  • SBR 2021 Touchdown Scorer prop record: 11-14, +0.16 units
