How to Watch Tampa Bay vs Detroit

Viewers in the United States can watch this Tampa Bay vs Detroit game on Sunday on NBC, while viewers in Canada can watch on DAZN or TSN.

Buccaneers vs Lions Head-to-Head History

Detroit won back in October when these teams last played winning 20-6 in Tampa Bay. The past six games have been split at three wins apiece though and all-time the wins are almost even as well with Detroit leading 32-29.

In this season’s victory, Jared Goff threw for 353 yards and 2 TDs. Amon-Ra St Brown led all receivers with 12 catches and 124 yards and one of those touchdowns. Baker Mayfield was just 19-37 passing for 206 yards and 1 INT. Neither team found any success on the ground with Tampa rushing for only 46 yards and Detroit 40.

Buccaneers vs Lions Public Betting Trends

The Buccaneers vs Lions betting splits in NFL public betting, sees an almost 50-50 split on the spread in both money and bet percentages. Tampa Bay has a 55% to 45% edge in ATS handle, while Detroit has a 54% to 46% edge in moneyline handle. Note, however, that Tampa Bay is getting 46% of moneyline handle with just 19% of tickets, meaning much larger wagers are coming in on the Buccaneers to win straight-up.

After favoring the over in the early part of the week, the game-day betting splits show 76% of game-total handle on under 49.5.

Buccaneers Betting Preview

The Eagles had been free-falling for weeks and that continued into the playoffs where they went to Tampa Bay on Monday and got routed by Mayfield and the Bucs to the tune of 32-9.

Tampa led 10 at the end of the first quarter and never looked back being up 16-9 at the half and 25-9 after three quarters. The Bucs completely eliminated the Eagles’ run game holding them to just 42 yards rushing and held Philly to just 13 first downs and 0/0 on third down and 0/2 on fourth down conversions.

Mayfield, battling rib and ankle injuries, was 22-36 for 337 yards and 3 TDs, while TE Cade Otton had a team-high in catches and yards with 8/89. He’s currently not holding any injury designation on the Bucs vs Lions injury reports.

Tampa Bay suffered a 23-13 home loss to the Saints in Week 16, but otherwise are 6-1 in their past seven games so should come to Detroit full of confidence.

Lions Betting Preview

It took 30 years but the Detroit Lions finally won another playoff game, playing host to the LA Rams and their old quarterback Matthew Stafford last week.

And while Stafford found plenty of success passing for 367 yards and 2 TDs versus the Lions’ 27th-ranked pass defense, it was Detroit and Goff getting the last laugh edging out a 24-23 victory.

Goff, having previously been traded by the Rams for Stafford, got the win over his old team and passed for 277 yards and 1 TD himself in the win.

Amon-Ra St Brown who was second in catches and third in yards for receivers this season had a seven-catch and 110 yard day. While David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs each had a rushing score for the Lions.

Almost all of the scoring came in the first half with Detroit leading 21-17 at the break. That’s both good from a defensive standpoint, but poor offensively that they only managed three second half points.

Detroit was the only team to win but not cover last week. But they have now won four of five games and are 4-1 ATS in that time.

Buccaneers vs Lions Prediction

The Lions held Kyren Williams to just 61 yards rushing last week and should have every confidence they can do the same to Rachaad White of Tampa. In fact, no running back has rushed for even 70 yards against the Lions’ 2nd-ranked run defense all season.

But the Eagles found no success versus the Bucs on the ground last week either, with Tampa boasting an equally impressive 5th-ranked run stop unit.

Going up against a Bucs’ secondary that gives up the fourth-most passing yards per game, Goff should be able to find success. He was fourth in touchdown passes and second in passing yards this regular season. And while the Eagles were mostly inept last week, WR DeVonta Smith did have 8 catches for 148 yards. So targeting someone like St Brown in this weekend’s Bucs vs Lions props could be worth a play.

But the same can be said for Mayfield and the Bucs versus a Lions secondary that gives up the sixth-most passing yards per game. While Detroit did a good job of shutting down Cooper Kupp last week for just 27 yards on 5 catches, Puka Nacua torched the Lions’ secondary with 9 catches, 181 yards and 1 TD.

With Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, David Moore, Trey Palmer and Otton all capable of making plays for the Bucs, it may be hard for Detroit to lock down any one player.

Detroit has been an Over betting team this year being 11-7 to the Over, while Tampa has skewed more Under, going 12-6, including four straight to the Under.

I see both teams being able to find success through the air. Though in a game that look destined to go Over last week between the Rams and Lions, we only saw 45 points.

Mayfield is 27-21 ATS as an underdog in his career including covering in seven of the past eight games in that role, while being 9-3 as an underdog in any spot this season. The Bucs are also 7-1 this season as an away dog, so let’s back that trend continuing for our Divisional Round best bets.
