  • The Commanders vs Bears injury report for tonight’s Thursday Night Football matchup in Week 6 features plenty of big names
  • Washington QB Carson Wentz will play, despite dealing with a biceps tendon strain close to his right shoulder
  • The complete Commanders vs Bears injury report can be found below, plus a breakdown of how the key injuries have affected the betting lines

Carson Wentz appears to be wearing out his welcome on yet another NFL team, but unlike last year in Indy, perhaps an injury is to blame.

Wentz, who’s led the Commanders to a 1-4 record and a bottom-three offensive grade per DVOA, is dealing with a biceps tendon strain close to his throwing shoulder. He’s expected to start against the Bears tonight on Thursday Night Football, but will be operating at less than 100%.

As you’ll see below, Wentz is one of a handful of Washington players that are banged up or have already been ruled out of tonight’s contest. Chicago meanwhile, appears to be in fine shape, with no major injuries to report.

Keep reading for the latest injury news ahead of TNF, and how it has impacted the betting lines in a game where the Commanders are favored by 1-point.

Washington Commanders Injury Report

Wentz is reportedly sore, but can play through the pain. Washington hopes to get him through this game, and have him heal in time for next week with the extended rest coming off a Thursday contest.

At the beginning of the week it was unclear if he’d be available tonight, but he’s reportedly looked good in practice and earned the green light. He suffered the injury in this past Sunday’s loss versus the Titans, in a game he threw for a 359 yards and 2 TD, but also a costly interception in the dying seconds.

His passing yards over/under in the Commanders vs Bears player props fell by 11 yards early in the week once the injury news surfaced, but has since inched back closer to its opening number.

The news on his pass catching corps is not as promising. Rookie wideout Jahan Dotson will miss his second straight outing due to a hamstring injury, while starting tight end Logan Thomas is out with a calf issue.

Starting right tackle Sam Cosmi will also sit thanks to a finger injury, while a trio of backups including corner William Jackson have also been ruled out.

Chicago Bears Injury Report

The Bears meanwhile, are about as healthy as any team could hope for playing on a short week. Only three players popped up on the injury report this week, led by starting corner Jaylon Johnson.

The second round pick from 2020, has missed the last three games due to a quad injury, but has been a full participant in practice this week and is good to go. Johnson is by far the most talented cornerback on the team, and one that enemy QB’s tend to avoid. In the first two games of the season, neither the 49ers or the Packers targeted a receiver in his coverage.

If Chicago is going to pull off the upset, as predicted in the Commanders vs Bears picks, expect Johnson to play a large role by locking up Terry McLaurin.

While the Commanders receivers are hurting, Chicago’s pass catching corps will finally be back at full strength tonight. N’Keal Harry is set to make his season debut, after spending the early portion of the campaign on IR recovering from a high ankle sprain.

How Injuries Have Affected Commanders vs Bears Betting Lines

This game opened at a pick’em when Wentz’s status was in limbo. It’s since moved to Washington -1 per the Commanders vs Bears public betting splits, but the majority of bettors are on Chicago.

Interestingly though, the total didn’t move once Wentz got the green light. The over/under has held steady at 38 all week, which is basically an indication from oddsmakers that they don’t believe Washington’s offense would be any less efficient with Taylor Heinicke or Sam Howell under center.

These two teams rank 30th and 29th respectively on offense per DVOA, and bottom-seven in points per game. Chicago is 31st in total offense, while both clubs have committed eight turnovers already.
