Week 5 NFL Picks Against the Spread
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers (12) throws an incomplete pass during the second quarter of their game Sunday, October 2, 2022 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis. The Green Bay Packers beat the New England Patriots 27-24 in overtime. Packers02 10
  • The Green Bay Packers are 20-8 against the spread in their last 28 games following an ATS loss
  • In the last five games at Baltimore, the Cincinnati Bengals are 4-1 ATS

It was another case of blown leads, close calls and key injuries in the Week 4 picks against the spread. The Detroit Lions scored 45 points against the Seattle Seahawks and failed to cover for the first time in the 2022 NFL season. It was also the first game this season that the Lions took the field as the chalk.

That means the Atlanta Falcons (4-0 ATS) are left to reign as the last unbeaten team in the NFL odds when it comes to betting against the spread. At the other end of the spread spectrum, eight teams are 1-3, including the defending Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams.

Let’s have a peek at the Week 5 NFL picks against the spread and see which teams are worth a wager.

Our top NFL ATS picks this week in the table above will feature plays on the Packers, Titans and Bengals.

NFL ATS Pick 1: Bengals Roll Ravens On The Road

Something’s just not right with the Baltimore Ravens. And truth be told, even when things are right with the Ravens, they still manage to go wrong when lining up against the Bengals. Set as 3-point underdogs, Cincinnati is 4-1 against the spread in the last five against Baltimore.

Baltimore’s patented blitz isn’t effective this season, and that’s leaving the Ravens’ corners exposed. Don’t think that Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase haven’t notices that on film.

Pick: Cincinnati Bengals +3 (-110), 1 unit

NFL ATS Pick 2: Titans in Command Against Commanders

The NFL public betting splits are in a torrid relationship with the Titans this week. Against the Washington Commanders, Tennessee, the 2.5-point favorites, are drawing 94% of public spread betting and 91% of spread handle.

Yes, Commanders QB Carson Wentz remembers the Titans from his time last season with the Colts – no matter how hard he tries to forget. Over his career, Wentz is 0-3 SU against Tennessee.

Pick: Tennessss Titans -2.5 (-110), 1 unit

NFL ATS Pick 3: Jolly Rodgers Flies Over Giants In Merry Old England

It’s Aaron Rodgers vs  . . . well, we just don’t know right now who will be at QB for the Giants Sunday morning against Green Bay across the pond. Daniel Jones and his wonky ankle? Will Tyrod Taylor clear concussion protocol? Or is Davis Webb going to be activated from the practice squad? The Giants finished their win over the Bears with RB Saquon Barkley at QB.

It really doesn’t matter. The Packers opened as a 7.5-point pick and that’s already grown to Green Bay -8. The Packers will be in a foul mood following last week’s close call at home against Patriots #3 QB Bailey Zappe. Green Bay is 20-8 ATS in the last 28 games following a failure to cover the spread.

Pick: Green Bay Packers -8 (-110), 1 unit

  • ATS season record 6-5-1, +1 unit

NFL Week 5 Against the Spread Quick Picks

  • Broncos (-3.5) vs Colts: Which retread QB will be added next year to destroy the hopes and dreams of Colts fans?
  • Falcons (+8.5) vs Buccaneers: Atlanta is 2-5 ATS in the last 7 against the Buccaneers, but how do you not take 8.5 points on the NFL’s only perfect ATS team?
  • Chargers (-3) vs Browns: Cleveland is a train wreck. In other words, it’s business as usual with the Browns.
  • Steelers (+14) vs Bills: A Kenny Pickett miracle? Not quite, but the Steelers will cover the spread.
  • Seahawks (+5.5) vs Saints: The Seahawks rang up 48 points and 555 yards against the Lions, so it’s not like they were facing an NFL defense. But the Saints could be missing RB Alvin Kamara, WR Mike Thomas and QB Jameis Winston.
  • Texans (+7) vs Jaguars: Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence lost four fumbles and Jacksonville lost and failed to cover after taking a 14-0 lead at Philadelphia. That could be a devastating blow to the psyche of this young team.
  • Vikings (-7) vs Bears: Chicago’s defense won’t have any answers for Minnesota receivers Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen.
  • Patriots (-3) vs Lions: What’s the over/under on how many Patriots players it will take to lift former Detroit head coach Matt Patricia on their shoulders after the New England assistant coach beats his old team?

Eagles the NFC Team to Beat?

  • Eagles (-5) vs Cardinals: The NFL’s last unbeaten ATS team, Philadelphia is the NFC favorite to go to the Super Bowl right now.
  • Cowboys (+4.5) vs Rams: Is it Cooper Rush or Dak Prescott at QB for Dallas? Considering Rush is 3-0 SU and ATS, it may not matter.
  • Jets (+3) vs Dolphins: Both teams will be going with different QBs than who started the season under center. In the case of the Jets and Zach Wilson, that’s actually good news.
  • 49ers (-5) vs Panthers: Is Baker Mayfield’s goose cooked? In Carolina’s Week 4 loss to the Cardinals, Mayfield lost a fumble, was picked off twice and saw five passes batted down at the line of scrimmage.
  • Chiefs (-7) vs Raiders: What’s worrisome for the Raiders is that they are in Kansas. Las Vegas is 2-5 ATS in the last seven against the Chiefs and 1-5 ATS in the last six at Arrowhead Stadium.
