The event is replacing the NHL All-Star Game, and acting as an international tune-up for the 2026 Olympics. Puck drop is scheduled for 8 pm ET from the Bell Centre, in Montreal, with TNT providing the broadcast in the U.S, and Sportsnet in Canada.

4 Nations Face-Off Prediction And Key Injuries

  • United States to win (+150) at BetMGM

Not since the 2016 World Cup of Hockey have hockey’s elite players squared off in a best-on-best competition. The Americans are tied with the Canadians for the shortest odds to win the tournament at +150. Sweden is next +425, followed by a distant Finland squad at +1000.

Canada’s forward group is the envy of all, and they got some good news that team captain Sidney Crosby will be good to compete in the event. Veteran two-time Stanley Cup champion Drew Doughty will draw in for Alex Pietrangelo, who has already declared he can’t go because of injury.

The Americans will be hampered by Norris Trophy candidate Quinn Hughes unable to suit up, and he was replaced by the Senators’ Jake Sanderson.

The Americans have a distinct advantage in net, with the Jets’ Connor Hellebuyck tops in the NHL in save percentage and goals against average, of goalies who made 20+ starts. Jake Oettinger provides a solid and steady backup.

Canada’s trio between the pipes is certainly much more in flux, between Adin Hill, Jordan Binnington and Sam Montembeault. Certainly, Canada regrets leaving Logan Thompson and his stellar season with the Capitals on the sidelines, as he’s not on the roster. With the Americans boasting the edge in the crease, I select them to win it all.

Odds For Top Goal Scorer And Top Point Getter

Player/CountryTop Goal ScorerTop Point Getter
Auston Matthews (USA)+800+1800
Nathan MacKinnon (CAN)+1100+700
Connor McDavid (CAN)+1100+600
Sam Reinhart (CAN)+1100+3300
Kyle Connor (USA)+1300+3500
Jack Hughes (USA)+1500+2200
Brayden Point (CAN)+1800+3500
William Nylander (SWE)+2000+3300
Mikko Rantanen (FIN)+2200+3000
Sidney Crosby (CAN)+2500+2500

USA’s Auston Matthews is the top choice to have the most goals, considering he’s led the NHL in snipes in three of the last four seasons. He’s been limited to 20 goals in 40 games on the campaign, as he’s been dealing with an undisclosed ailment. For some value, his Maple Leafs teammate William Nylander is intriguing at +2000, as he has the most markers (33) of anyone playing in the tournament.

In terms of top point getter, Canada’s Connor McDavid (+600) is slightly ahead of Nathan MacKinnon (+700). MacKinnon leads the NHL in points (87), but is expected to be on the second line, compared to McDavid on the top unit. Things could quickly change in the tournament, but McDavid is my choice.

  • William Nylander most goals (+2000), Connor McDavid most points (+600)
