There’s not much to choose from in the NHL odds between the Rangers and the Kings. At -115, New York has an implied win probability of 53.49%, while the Kings have a 51.22% probability to win at home with moneyline odds of -105.

New York Rangers Betting Analysis

It’s been a fairly pedestrian start to the season for the Blueshirts with a record of 9-6-4. One of the trendy picks in the Stanley Cup odds at the outset of the season, they’re currently on pace for just 95 points this year, 15 less than the 110 they achieved in 2021-22.

Inconsistency has plagued the crew from Manhattan as they have yet to string along more than three consecutive wins so far. One of the issues seems to be their backup goaltender. Jaroslav Halak is yet to win a game for the Rangers, going 0-4-1 with a 3.22 goals against average and .883 save percentage in five starts.

Luckily for the Rangers, they have arguably the best number one netminder in the game who is expected to start against the Kings. Igor Shesterkin is a favorite to repeat in the Vezina Trophy odds, and has given up just seven goals in his last four games. For the season, the Russian backstop is 9-2-3 with a 2.34 GAA and .917 save percentage.

One area where the Rangers have excelled this year is on special teams. Entering Monday night’s action, they had the 5th-ranked penalty kill in the league and were capitalizing at a 23.5% clip on the man advantage, good for 9th in the NHL.

Los Angeles Kings Strong Moneyline Bet at Home

You can bet the Los Angeles Kings can’t wait to play again on their home ice. They just completed a four-game road trip through Western Canada and Seattle with the offense sputtering in their final three games. Not including an empty netter against Edmonton, they found the back of the net just five times in those last three games.

At home though, it’s been a different story. The Kings are a perfect 4-0 in November and overall, are riding a five-game home win streak into Tuesday night’s affair with New York.

Although they don’t have anybody that will compete in the odds for the Rocket Richard trophy, they do boast a balanced attack with six players currently on pace for 20 or more goals. Off-season acquisition, Kevin Fiala sits atop the Kings’ scoring chart with 18 points adding another offensive element to an LA side known mostly for its strong defense.

Rangers vs Kings Pick & Prediction

The last four times these teams have faced each other, they’ve exchanged wins and losses. No real trend to follow there. Where we do notice some repetition is in their tendency to hit the under when facing one another. They’ve combined to score five goals or less in their last four matchups.

Following last year’s theme where they were one of the stingiest teams in the league, the Rangers have been providing an amazing 22.39% return on investment when betting on them to go under the total this season. Both these teams were top 10 in the league in goals against a season ago.

While the Kings have allowed more and scored more this campaign, they seem to have reverted to their old ways lately, going under the total in each of their last three contests. That’s why the best bet in the Rangers vs Kings odds is to pick under 6 goals.

Pick: Under 6 Goals (-120)
