Minnesota is off to a bit of a slow start as they face the upstart Seattle Kraken this Friday night.  Seattle seems to have found their footing in their second year while the Wild are feeling the weight of expectations.

The Wild defeated the Ducks 4-1 on Wednesday night. Seattle is home again after beating up on Nashville 5-1 on Tuesday.

Minnesota has had some defensive breakdowns and penalties this year. The Wild have allowed 42 goals while Seattle has yielded 41. There’s a good chance that this Wild vs Kraken matchup may see some goals.

The Wild are 12th in the Stanley Cup odds at +2200 to win the Stanley Cup, while Seattle is down at +7000. Currently this contest features a total of 6.5.

Puck drop is set for just after 10:00 pm ET at the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington with ESPN+ showing the game exclusively.

Minnesota Wild Betting Analysis

Minnesota caught a break when Kirill Kaprizov did not get suspended for his spear on Drew Doughty. They gained another break against Anaheim when Trevor Zegras’ “Michigan goal” was overturned due to an offsides call.  Ultimately, the Wild went on to win the game 4-1. Minnesota needed the win and got the win. It is that simple sometimes. At .500, the Wild have a little hope.

Missing Marcus Foligno and Ryan Hartman hurt Minnesota no question. The Wild are getting below league average goaltending (.898 overall save percentage) while being buoyed by Kaprizov’s ten goals. Matt Boldy and Mats Zuccarello have been excellent so far from an offensive standpoint. However, there are too many passengers and not enough drivers.

The defense has been far messier and Marc-Andre Fleury has been playing like a goaltender in the twilight of his career far too often. Calen Addison has eight assists but cannot get out of his own way defensively, for example. Minnesota needs better, more consistent efforts in all phases.

Seattle Kraken Betting Analysis

Maybe pundits were wrong on the Seattle Kraken after all. All the Kraken needed was a few more goals scored. They have responded with 50 goals in 14 games. That translates to an 8-4-2 record with balanced scoring. Seattle has 11 players with eight or more points.

The Kraken only needed around league average goaltending to flourish apparently. Martin Jones is facing less than 27 shots per 60 minutes. Furthermore, Jones is stopping almost all the shots he has to. That has allowed Seattle some confidence and a margin of error the Kraken did not enjoy last year.

Ultimately, Seattle is still a long shot to win the division. Their Pacific Division Odds stand at +1700. Can Seattle slow down Minnesota again tonight? That is the question.

10/28/2021 SEA 4 – MIN 1 SEA SEA Under

The teams faced off three times last season, with Minnesota winning the final two meetings including one in Seattle. Can Seattle win a second consecutive meeting on Friday night?

Wild vs Kraken Prediction

The dilemma with Seattle is not knowing when Martin Jones starts struggling again. Jones is capable of playing very well in 8 to 12 game stretches. Then, the goaltender goes in the tank for a month or more. One just never knows. Right now, it is about riding the wave.

Wild vs Kraken Same-Game Parlay Picks

Pick Odds
Seattle Kraken Moneyline +110
Seattle and Minnesota Under 6.5 Goals -112
PARLAY ODDS  +290

Normally, goals should come in bunches here, but the problem is it seems neither team scores goals in this matchup. That has been the case in three of the previous four meetings.

All in all, the Seattle moneyline at plus money is the best value for Friday’s matchup.

Pick: Seattle Kraken Moneyline (+110)
