NASCAR travels down to Hampton, Georgia (just outside of Atlanta), for the fifth race of the 2023 season. The Atlanta Motor Speedway is a 1.54-mile intermediate track with low banking and a tri-oval. The race distance totals 400 miles (260 laps). What craziness may befall drivers this weekend?

This weekend’s race is a week after the United Rentals Work United 500 where William Byron won again, holding off Tyler Reddick and Ryan Blaney.

The table below lists the entire slate of NASCAR Cup Series odds for the Ambetter Health 400 (win, podium finish, and top-ten finish). Under the table, find the Ambetter Health 400 predictions and best bets for this weekend’s NASCAR action.

William Byron enters this race as a +900 favorite to win, followed by Kyle Busch (+1000), and four drivers at +1200.  This track was where Chevy, particularly Hendrick asserted some dominance. William Byron fended off Ross Chastain and Kurt Busch. Do Bubba Wallace and Josh Berry benefit because they race in cars that placed in the top-ten last year? Those are just a few question.

NASCAR drivers start their engines on the 1.54-mile, 60-100-100 stage lap setup when the flag drops for the Sunday afternoon race beginning just after 3:00 pm ET on FOX.

William Byron Tops Choices for Sunday But…

Now, there exists a distinct dilemma when betting at Atlanta Motor Speedway. For one, it is an intermediate track that behaves more like a quad-oval super speedway. Last year was the first year with a more narrow track, and steeper turns. With 46 lead changes among 20 drivers, it made wagering a bit more of a challenge. Byron managed to win more because of the Chevy dominance late. Five of the top six cars were Chevy’s.

So, the DraftKings Sportsbook odds strayed very slightly but nothing out of the ordinary. Kyle Larson tends to lead a few laps here and is listed as a co-favorite (+900) with Byron. Josh Berry’s odds are better on the site at +5000 to win and +700 for a top five. His top ten (+200) is more intriguing since Chase Elliott ran this car sixth  last year.

One More NASCAR Futures Update

Sports bettors after a month of NASCAR see Kyle Busch at around a +675 favorite. However,  the NASCAR Cup Series odds are still in their infancy. Elliott still stays in the top five for now at +1000. William Byron’s back-to-back wins vault him up to +800, right next to teammate Kyle Larson. Two-time champion Joey Logano is now just a whisker back at +1050.

Atlanta represents a different picture compared to Las Vegas and Phoenix. Chevy may still have a better car this week, but the Ryan Blaney Ford is always one to watch. He did win this race in 2021. That race remains one of the fastest ones this decade on the track.

Qualifying only this week in Atlanta may make things a little more interesting. Since it takes place around Noon on Saturday, maybe numbers will spread out a bit later in the day.

Ambetter Health 400 Predictions & Picks

Yes, Partly Sunny conditions are likely this weekend with cooler temperatures and little chance of rain.

Qualifying well does help, but is not an automatic to win at Atlanta, unlike say Phoenix.

Could a driver like Josh Berry or even Corey Lajoie pull off a surprise? Lajoie finished fourth here last year and had one of the fastest cars at the end.

Order of finish seems to dictate Chevy-Blaney-Toyota-Ford. Will that pan out Sunday on such a volatile track? Again, tons of lap chances and double-digit caution potential could disturb a lot of betting cards.

Here are our best bets:

  • Top Pick: Alex Bowman to Win (+1800)
  • Other Contenders: Ryan Blaney (+1200), William Byron (+900), Kyle Larson (+1200)
  • Longshots:  Bubba Wallace (+2000), Josh Berry (+5000), Daniel Suarez (+2500)
